Starting against Norwich today, overtaking Keane and his 480 appearances, de Gea is currently 12th with 481 appearances for the club.

Unbelieveable, really.

1. Ryan Giggs - 963
2. Sir Bobby Charlton - 758
3. Paul Scholes - 718
4. Bill Foulkes - 688
5. Gary Neville - 602
6. Wayne Rooney - 559
7. Alex Stepney - 539
8. Tony Dunne - 535
9. Denis Irwin - 529
10. Joe Spence - 510
11. Arthur Albiston - 485
12. David de Gea - 481
13. Roy Keane - 480

Whys it unbelievable

You know what is unbelieveable? Giggs with his 963 appearances. That’s just insane when you think about it. And at such a high level too.

He’ll probably get to 5th unless something drastic happens.

Is it really unbelievable? He's a keeper who we signed as a teenager, and established himself as a regular pretty much from the start (apart from 2 short spells of rotation with the Danish guy and Henderson)

He’ll probably get to 5th unless something drastic happens.

That would require him to be 1st choice for at least the next two seasons, playing every cup game as well. If he's 1st choice next season he'll obviously crack the top 10, but I wouldn't expect more than that.

Well his contract expires at the end of next season and I hope we are not insane enough to offer him same salary as he is on now,
so there is a chance he could leave them. Even if we offered him 50% less he would probably still be the world's highest paid keeper which is nuts

It would be a fecking travesty. I've never seen a one trick pony play as many games at a top team but I guess it speaks volumes that he was our best player during our worst run period.
Mental. He may not be suited to how the game has evolved the past couple of years, but he was unbelievable and was one of the best keepers in the world in that post fergie era.

Best shotstopper in the world for many years is probably not most people's idea of a one trick pony. Sure he had two poor seasons and isn't the sweeper keeper mould that's come to the fore in recent years, but 'travesty' is ridiculous imo.
