Day of the Triffids

Nice, I hadn't heard about that? Fairly impressive cast as well.

I remember sparse bits from the BBC original that I watched as a kid.

Untill I saw the preview for it I had no idea they had done it.
Eddie Izzard's part looks a good one he has the look of a right twat , who would take no crap from anybody.
Added bouns is it also on BBC HD.

Awesome book. I missed the original show first time round but watched it again there during the summer, im looking forward to this one tonight. Although will it be on iplayer tomorrow? Im out on the sauce tonight, and im probably going to miss most if not all of the show.

Is Eddie Izzard any good as an actor? He was in Valkyrie, and that thing where he was a pikey who was rich or something, but is he any good?

Very well made...Very poorly written

I personally thought it was poor all round considering the casting, some poor acting and although only a minor thing the make-up people behind it need shooting. The cuts on both their faces moved about, disappeared at times and looked different at others. I know it's nothing major but once i'd noticed it i couldn't help but keep an eye out for them fecking it up again.

Dissappointing overall I thought.

It was ok. Nothing special and the creeping dread the old series used to have by having those lifeless plants has gone, they move round so much it's comical. Even opening and shaking their petals like some jurrasic park reject.

Think they deviated a bit, and perhaps didn't choose the right people / characterisation. I prefer the 1980's tv version

I'll still watsh it tonight as its better than 99% of tv (ie reality shite / celebs / 100 greatest turds / the other useless crap that you're told to watch nowadays)

Yeah, I still ended up laughing whenever one came into shot, wobbling along!! Plus Jason Priestly is really annoying.

oh yeah, it's pretty shit all round...but for a BBC thing, it's very well made...For a BBC thing. Relatively speaking

Watched the first half and wasn't overly impressed, and i thought second part might be better. But it wasn't, plus iplayer died about 40mins into part 2. So yeah, i didn't even finish it and i've no inclination to either, which is never a good sign. John Wyndham is a great writer though, and this shit series won't take away from the book.

My mate decided to let her son watch a little bit of the second part as his Godfather had a part in the film.
He was the bloke who drove the two main characters to the wood intending to leave them there. However, he ended up getting eaten himself. Her son was a tad upset! and now thinks his Godfather has been killed by a triffid!!

You did not miss much .
Just watched it all and I was very disapointed was expecting more from it.
I thought poorly written and the ending was just shit.
Could of been so much better.
5/10 must try harder next time.
