'Day Of The Tentacle' to be revived?
Telltale Games has revealed that it is considering developing an episodic series based on LucasArt's classic point-and-click adventure Day Of The Tentacle.
The studio is currently preparing to release Tales Of Monkey Island, a five-part episodic adventure based on another LucasArts IP. If the game proves successful, Telltale said that a Day Of The Tentacle revival is possible.
In an interview with VideoGamer, Telltale CEO Dan Connors was asked whether more LucasArts titles would be receiving the episodic treatment in the future.
"We'll see. It all depends on how it goes," he responded. "Hopefully it works out for both companies and it just is a no-brainer to keep adding the franchises on."
When asked whether Day Of The Tentacle was feasible, he added: "I would say 'feasible' is a good word," but noted that any future point-and-click releases are dependent on the success of LucasArt's forthcoming Monkey Island Special Edition, as well as its episodic sequel.
"We’re certainly not there yet on it, and we're just having a 'wait and see' approach with Monkey. Hopefully everyone that plays the special edition and plays Tales really enjoy what the games bring, which is the great stories and characters of Guybrush and Elaine and LeChuck."
The opening episode of Tales Of Monkey Island will premier for PC and Wii on July 7. Monkey Island Special Edition is released later this summer.
