I was planning on cheering myself up after today's draw by watching a United DVD, probably a re run of the match when we broke Arsenal's unbeaten run, but I've just looked through the TV pages to see that George A. Romero's Dawn of the Dead is on in about 15 minutes. So now I don't know what to do.

I've never seen the film, although I've seen the 2004 remake, which I thought was pretty good, so, has anyone seen the 1974 original, was it any good, and should I watch it now ?

Anyone ?

Come on, I've only got 5 minutes until it starts.

I thought it was really good, up until the last half an hour or so, where I thought it got a bit stupid and pointless. But overall, a good film, and I'm glad a watched it.

Zombie films are the best.

Isn't there a remake of one of the George Romero films coming out soon?

Dawn of the Dead is amazing, one of my favourite films. Night of the Living Dead and Land of the Dead are brilliant too - I think you've got to be a big Romero fan to like Day of the Dead, but I personally think it's ace

Not sure about a remake, but there is a new Romero film in production - Diary of the Dead, I believe it's called.

But agree - zombie films are my favourite horror genre.

Might be, but I know for sure Romero is back himself with "Diary of the Dead" set around the time of the film this thread is talking about.

Due out within months I think.

Day of the dead shits all over Land of the dead.

Well it depends what you like I suppose. Each of the films are a reflection of the time they were made in, thematically and stylistically. Land of the Dead is a lot more polished and is an OTT modern action film, Day of the Dead is very very eighties. I find the eighties thing a bit more difficult to deal with, I think a lot of people do. I really like both of them mind, though neither are as good as the first two
