How about getting Davids over the summer. He is a fantastic defensive midfielder with alot of attacking attributes as well. I think Keane and Davids would form a hell of a partnership and would terrorize opposing teams. I don't think he would cost that much either as he is 31-32. He was dying to leave Juve at the beginning of the year so his coming should not be a problem.

davids would be a great addition, a midfielder who is NOT AFRAID TO TACKLE

I'd have Di Cannio on the cheap in Jan as a terrific short term addition. Assuming we don't sign Cisse or someone similar.

I'd love to see Keano and Davids in the same midfield, even if it was only for a season. Just think about the Dipper/Arse/Shitty games, they'd be expolsive <img src="graemlins/keano.gif" border="0" alt="[Keano]" />

No thanks, not the right player to take united forward, we need younger, hungry, players desperate for success.

and you'd end up with 9 men on the pitch.

i too would have liked to have seen a Keane/Davids combination but alas its too late now.
I reckon Davids would have been perfect for the EPL

From TribalFootball (Gazzetta dello Sport ):
Manchester United have been linked with a mega double deal for Juventus duo Edgar Davids and David Trezeguet.
French international Trezeguet, currently sidelined with injury, is also a target for Arsenal, with boss Arsene Wenger keeping in regular contact with the former AS Monaco youngster as he recovers from his leg injury.

However, Gazzetta dello Sport reports that United are preparing a massive £40 million offer for the striker at the end of the season.

Juve chief Luciano Moggi remains keen to bring Juan Sebastian Veron back to Italy and is willing to offer United Edgar Davids - plus cash - for the Argentine.

United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has insisted Veron is not for sale and Moggi knows he will have a tough task convincing Fergie to part with his prized recruit.

Great player who would seriously thrive in the PL. Simply too old though.

Agree withthe general sentiment about Davids - would have been a great signing 5 years ago.

BUT!!

Veron + cash for Trezegol and Davids. Now we're talking.

Agreed. But this is bullshit - ask a Juventini. They'd sooner sell their granny than their beloved Trezegol - it's be like United selling Ruud.

he's 29 and has a few years left i would think.

There was a snippet in the Daily Star saying "Italian gossips" are reporting talks between Juve and United for a Veron/Davids swap.

Davids must be one of the few who could seriously compete against Vieira and Hamann - good swap for Veron imo.

Davids would be excellent but I still believe that the player we need amongst others is Di Canio - I seriously feel that he could do for us what Zola has done for chelsea and I also believ if he signed he would win The Premier league player of the year ;)
