David Johnson who played in our 1995 FA Youth Cup winning side has retired due to injury.......

"Nottingham Forest striker David Johnson has been forced to retire from football, reports BBC Radio Nottingham. Johnson has failed to recover from the back injury which has seen him sidelined since last December. After consultations with doctors, the 30-year-old has decided to call time on his playing career.
Forest paid Ipswich Town £3.5m for Johnson in 2001, with the forward going on to score 50 goals in 167 appearances for the League One side. He began his career as a trainee at Manchester United before moving to Bury, Ipswich and then Forest. He also had loan spells at Sheffield Wednesday, Burnley and Sheffield United while on Forest's books.
Johnson is now hoping to complete his coaching qualifications - with Forest's help. "I need to do a certain amount of coaching hours for my badges, and I'm going to finish that off with Forest," he told the club's website. "The coaching business is a pretty tough industry to break into. "My main aim is to get a job around the club, but if that doesn't happen then so be it - and I'll move on."
.......I had a conversation with David not too long ago and he told me that United offered him a one-year extension to his contract but he rejected it. He said it was a mistake that he regrets.....
I hope he finds a coaching role as he is a really nice guy.....
