Darwin Núñez | Liverpool player | Fighter

Red card. He’s looking at De Ligt the whole time. Doesn’t look at the ball once. Knew what he was doing.
At the time I thought it was orange, but yeah seeing it back a few times there’s not really any doubt for me. He’s left the ground and shoved his entire body into his jaw, for a laugh.

I mean he’s looking at De Ligt the whole time. He knew what he was doing.

bit stupid how long he looked at de ligt, but i’m all for leaving one on a defender as a striker, especially if you know you’ll get away with it because the ref is a slug.

Would be a red card in rugby, never mind Football. Look at the whiplash De Ligt gets when he hits the floor. So bloody dangerous. What a nasty prick.

I take it because he was booked there’s nothing anyone can do now as they couldn’t possibly overrule the ref or something? Even though they did it to give Liverpool a penalty

I thought it could have been a red card when watching it live.

Seeing more replays, I'm more convinced it should have been a red.

I agree that it should probably be a red in todays game and was annoyed when it happenend. But I kind of like him though, not much talent but he’s a nutter and plays like that. There is all sorts of chaos around him, he keeps things interesting. He’s up for a fight which is sparse in todays game.

I think it was more an orange than a red, given the timing and that he was going for the clash, yet not as clear as a red.
Anyway focusing too much on the ref this match, doesn't seem right, after all without VAR the lad would have missed liverpool's penalty too.

Fairplay to him

If that was one of ours leaving it on one of theirs, we'd have loved them for it

wish höjlund did some of that
If Rasmus had done that yesterday, it would have been VARed and he'd have gotten a red. No doubt in my mind.

That not more was made of it during the game (Neville timidly tried to comment on how bad it was but was interrupted) was surprising. It was a really shit and potentially dangerous challenge.

He is officially a flop now. Zero composure and, for all his energy, he just doesn’t seem to have the talent or the football IQ to learn and grow as a footballer (like the likes of Gakpo seem to be doing)

I thought his pace and energy would have him eventually win that CF position under Klopp but I think he has actually gotten worse.

The few posters congratulating his “fight” on this page, for what was basically assault, is bizarre. It was dangerous and he offers nothing bar “chaos”, whatever that means.

Eh?! It was thuggish and not even close to looking like a fair attempt to challenge for the ball. He's reckless, dangerous and a twat. And he's shite to boot.

Has always been a wild and aggressive player. He's lucky he plays for Liverpool where he's likely to get milder treatment from the refs

Anyone got a clip of it? I can't find it anywhere.

Apologies for link to Liverpool sub Reddit. Couldn't find it anywhere else.

I really don't think there's much in it for all the fuss there has been. He's definitely trying to 'do' De Ligt in the sense that he wants to get him out of the way using his strength because he doesn't trust his first touch under pressure, but I think it's clumsy rather than violent.

Put it this way, I'd have been pretty pissed off if one of ours had been sent off for that and think a yellow is about fair.

Thank you. I would say its a yellow.

It’s not clumsy it’s a deliberate act

It’s a deliberate shoulder to the head. That’s a red card in rugby, never mind football.

I think it's a pretty obvious red card...

If you consider that if you lightly push your head towards an opponent that is an automatic red card, this is just as deliberate and far more dangerous.

I would be mad if any ref called this a red for our team or our players.

So, i cant ask for a red for Nunez, cant see it as violent offence.

But was a bit disgusting yes. All the looks he gave, very cu**tish.

Braindead and unnecessary action that, I just don’t know what he was trying to achieve there. Lucky not to be given red.

I still think he has the right intentions and is good at heart but really starting to look like it won’t happen for him at Liverpool. I’d take a £30m-ish move this summer.

Are you on the wind up?

He doesn't look at all at the ball, straight at De Ligt, barges into him directly and aggressively, of course it's a red. Any argument otherwise is wrong for me. It would be a red in rugby, and yes I'm serious.

It's a deliberate shoulder barge. Not sure I've ever seen anyone sent off for that, so I guess yellow is about right.
