As for Dalglish v Best, the opinions will always be split between you lot and us, and no amount of debate will change either sides view.

Best won the EC cup in 68 and was voted European footballer of the year
In 99 he was voted 11th in the IFFHS European Player of the Century election.
Aside from that he is regarded by many as the the best footballer that they have seen on these shores. I'm sure that if you ask around, some of the older liverpool fans will also tell you that.

Dalglish? great player. But as good as Best? you're on drugs

Best easily, shame he didnt stay at United longer and was an alcoholic.

Its a fecking ridiculous argument St Red is putting forward. To say it is debatable to decide which of them is better is absolutely hilarious. I think we all acknowledge that Dalglish was a great player but he simply wasnt in the same class or at the same level as Best. Best would have run rings around him and left him on his fat ass time after time.

It's no real slight on Dalglish to say he was no way near George Best's level. Not many were.

Daglish one of Liverpools best players ever if not the best, Best = one of the best players all time

I remember after Best died, alot of Scousers admitted that Best was in a different league to Dalglish. There's a thread on RAWK about it somewhere.

I once ran into Emlyn Hughes dad on a train and he thought Best was the greatest player he had ever seen. He also thought Best was a really nice guy.For what it's worth.

Aye, it should be a non-argument really. It seems to be the opinion of near enough everybody in British football that Best was the best these islands have ever produced. That won't stop the odd Scouse spacker trying to claim otherwise, mind.

The argument that Dalglish may be better is as spasticated as them claiming they have more than 18 league titles.

Seriously a jokes a joke, but what the feck is wrong with these spastics???

No contest.

Just don't expect scousers to admit it.

I would actually. Most of the old Scousers will admit that Best is miles ahead, in the same way that that so many, even older ones, will say that Big Dunc was the best ever.

To be honest, Dalglish is one of the best footballers from Scotland, if not the best. Georgie is probably in the top half dozen in the world.

St Red's probably under 30. It's not even debatable to be honest.

Yes, I guess older scousers would admit it. I was just talking about younger ones.

St Red is on a wind up.

But about Dalglish, he was the standout player in a team that won 6 league titles and 3 European cups. Liverpool's best and up there with Law as Scotland's best.

this from a noob

Bestie was a genius of a player but i think it's fair to say that Dalglish had the better career and bigger impact on the game - and I'm sure Bestie would admit that himself as he was a big fan of Kenny.

I'm from Scotland, mind, so slightly biased.

bigger impact on the game? huh?

Diego Maradona admitted that he considered George Best a better player than himself. That's how fecking good he was.

Dalglish doesn't even register.

Of course Dalglish registers - he was a fking great wonderful player.

However Bestie was something else, a very very special player who sits comfortably up on the mantle as one of the three greatest players ever to have kicked a ball

There is really no comparison to be made here

He doesn't register in the same class as Bestie, is what I was trying to say. There's probably less than half a dozen players who do.

Anyone can tell me, are there any George Best movies except Best (2000) ?

Kenny Dalglish was a great player in his day but he wouldn't be fit to lace George Best's boots.

Update: Only took a few minutes before I got a PM saying Gerrard is better than Keane. You couldn't dream this stuff up.

Now that one is up for discussion. So long as 'discussion' isn't a load of fecking smileys. Best is a given, Keane better than Gerrard? Not on your nelly, and I REALLY rated Keane.

Dogleash was an admirable player and maybe the key player, (or certainly one of) in a great Liverpool side.

Best just left you shaking yuor head in disbelief. A real all-time great. Anywhere. If you saw them both, you'd know it's a silly comparison.

Almost as silly as Berties comparing Bell with Charlton, Summerbee with Best, Lee with Law

Having frequently seen both play I think this claim reinforces the view that to be a scouser you have to have strong delusional tendencies. Dalglish was a great player - who incidentally would have preferred to join us - but shouldn´t lace the boots of Best

PS he would be allowed to kiss them though

St Red is on a wind up.

I would have thought on the eve of your most important league title win, you lot would have had enough on your minds to ignore a open ended and ambiguous comment from a rival fan.
The 2 comments I made were worded in a fashion that left them open to individual interpretation.
At no point did I say that Dalglish was better than Best, although I said that opinions may differ, I never stated my opinion.

I am well aware of the fact that Best was an amazing footballer, the best player the British Isles has ever produced.
I grew up watching the limited TV coverage at the time, and have seen countless clips since to confirm it.
I even saw him live when he played for Hibs and he still had a presence that raised him above the rest.

On a day where you lot are likely to win your 18th title (a sad day for me), some of the outrage in this thread has provided me with some mild amusement.

good luck today BTW
