Curb Season 6

Didn't rate season 5 at all, I think maybe the show has lost its magic. Still hopefully I will be proven wrong

Although I haven't got as far as season 6, I have to say I find Curb very hit or miss(which is to be expected with improvised comedy). Their are some episodes that border on absolute genius and others that couldn't even raise a chuckle.

Good concept behind the making of the show however.:)

I think S5 was good overall , just that ending was shite which made most people rate it as poor. Can't wait for S6 as well. It's officially my 2nd fav comedy of all time.

I rate Curb higher than Seinfeld. Conversations to the brilliance like that Terrorist Attack episode where Larry David asks Cheryl whether he can leave her back to save himself is genius which Seinfeld has rarely touched but Curb does so more often

Both are class, no doubting. They're showing Season 7 of Seinfeld in India now. Each one in that is just plain brilliant

I have theory which has been mostly proved true so far.

Those who saw Seinfeld first and then Curb, still rate the former higher. While those who watched Curb first rate it higher.

I agree that Curb possibly is better but I stick with Seinfeld given Curb is generally inspired from it. And the sequence you talk about is portrayed in Seinfeld over the years (George running over his GF, old people, children in case of fire threat ) but just in a lot more crude manner and that way Curb is better since it incooperates all those situations in real life while Seinfeld was pure sitcom.

I've only watched like two episodes of Seinfeld, I've been meaning to watch more of it since Curb became one of my favourite shows

Curb isn't inspired from Seinfeld at all. If anything it was how Larry David wanted Seinfeld to be like

That George Birthday Party thing isn't what I'm talking of. It is the conversation. Just purely with the help of dialog it was genius

Yes, it's true that's how Larry wanted Seinfeld to be. If you watch the first season which most people hate, you will see Larry failed do it initially, Seinfeld first few were really like poor man's Curb. After that he mixed a bit with slapstick. But still Curb revolves around the same principles as Seinfeld. The thing Larry hates were more less portrayed by the four characters over the years. And they had some great conversations in Seinfeld the same way as Curb, only different being they were more a rants than a mild conversation.

And I get what you are saying, it is where Larry succeeded in Curb and made it it's own show rather than Seinfeld II.

I like Curb a lot, but Seinfeld is still my all time favorite. You have to give Seinfeld credit for getting the same themes/riske subjects across without actually being free to come out and say things directly. Network TV vs HBO.

I don't know if you guys know how things are here in America, but Seinfeld was on one of the big 3 networks which broadcast free over the air, and are very regulated as far as content. Larry David has complete freedom on Curb because it is HBO (paid subscriber channel) and thus doesn't have to find effective ways to convey what he is trying to say in a roundabout and "clean" manner. If he wants to say feck, he just says it.
