Anyone watch this? Fittest on earth and all that.

The time difference is a bitch but I'm just caught up. It can all be watched/caught up at http://games.crossfit.com/

Manchester's own Samantha Briggs has had a great start, leading after 6 events. 10 years older than most of the field and she's still showing them how its done. Unfortunately it's squat cleans coming up next (11:30 tonight) and a bunch of other heavy lifting events to follow, and she sucks on the heavy lifting. Hopefully the 2 unknown events will suit her better.

I'm less interested in the Men's comp as its all Yanks but I don't see anyone taking it from Fraser, hope he ends up 2nd again though just cos it'll be funny watching him rage.

They are fecking machines. I watched the teenagers the other day and they're disgustingly strong.

Aye, 5 foot tall 15 year old girls lifting more than I can, they are mental. They have really good technique though... Yeh I put it all down to the technique.

Katrín Tanja Davíðsdóttir, an Icelander, wins the 2nd year in a row and Ragnheiður Sara Sigmundsdóttir finishes 3rd for the 2nd time in a row. That's the 4th time in 6 years that an Icelandic woman becomes the world fittest woman.

A nation of overachievers we are (though really it's a few excellent individuals that draw in the headlines).

It's like a fecking cult. The people who like it really fecking LOVE it. I get the addiction of getting super-fit and constantly improving your PBs but as a spectator sport? Not for me.

Yeah it's crazy. I've never understood the attraction personally, exercising just to be good at exercising. It reminds me of Worlds Strongest Man as a spectator sport...just with smaller weights.
