I cant speak for any where else other than Ireland but there is as much chance of cricket becoming the national sport of Ireland as there is of me being the next Prime Minister.A tiny minority play it here and most people in this country regard it as a boring game,but if thats what floats your boat fair enough.Cricket will never be widely played in Ireland

Cricket and sport are used in the same sentence in this country.Now if thats what you are into again fair enough,but any game that takes 5 days to complete and can only be played when the weathers fine will never take off here.We like our sport to be of the more robust and certainly shorter kind.5 days of the ashes and tonight a draw,give me a break

The gulf between England and North/underdeveloped Ireland, developing Wales, and Scotland would be bigger in cricket than in football, but you lot can close in the gap quicker than you're trying in football.
