Newcastle United striker Craig Bellamy is on Manchester United’s wanted list as they search for a striker to partner Ruud van Nistelrooy next season, says the Daily Mail. They claim that the former Norwich man has caught the eye of Sir Alex Ferguson in the Premiership and Europe this season – probably because he’s been skilful, petulant and a bit arsy

I personally believe he will be an excellent partner for RVN despite his not-too-impressive strike rate due to his lightning pace and ability to run at defenders.

We need someone like Bellamy, someone's who pace unsettles the opposing defence, but we won't get Bellamy. He's signed a new deal with the Toon, so I can't see him leaving.

His speed is what we need but we also need someone to take the scoring pressure off RVN to an extent. Bellamy only has a handful of goals this season, in fact i think Diego has more goals.

Cisse is my number one choice but the other french guys Kapo and Govou interest me!

Bellamy: Has no rift with boss Robson

Magpies slam Bellamy rift talk

Newcastle have slammed suggestions of a rift between Sir Bobby Robson and Craig Bellamy which has sparked talk of a move to Manchester United.

Speculation that the Wales international is on his way from St James' Park to Old Trafford follows his alleged anger at being switched from up front to a right-sided midfield role in the closing stages of Saturday's 3-0 win at Leeds.

But the idea that there is now such hostility between Bellamy and Robson that he will be sold to one of Newcastle's main rivals has been ridiculed by people within St James'.

"There's absolutely no way Craig is going anywhere - least of all Manchester United," said an unnamed fellow Newcastle player. "Hardly a game goes by without him having a moan at somebody - whether it's a team-mate or the manager.

"That's just the way he is and we've all learned to expect it. He's always sorry afterwards and the whole thing is quickly forgotten about," he added. "The gaffer knows exactly what Craig is like and wouldn't change him for the world, even though he gets a headache from all his whingeing - the lad is absolutely vital to us."

And his strike rate really isn't bad, particularly as he gets moved over to the wing on occasion

Appearances in PL and CL: 24

Goals: 9

Forlan's record:

Appearances in PL and CL: 32

Goals: 7

Strange one this. I think he's a good player, who would add value to our squad, but I think he's a right tosser - one of the players I like the least.

Agreed, plus he's already had 4 ops on his knees so could easilly end up being a sick note.

Got to be Shearer who said that, the Man United reference gives it away...

I wouldn't think that any team with aspirations would sell one of their top players, least of all to us.

If the player wants to go, he goes.

Newcastle is good, but hasn't got the status uf Manchester United, Liverpool or Arsenal, so there's always a chance a player from Newcastle would fancy a move to one of those three clubs.

Unless he's called Alan Shearer ;)

Agree with you. Talent-wise, I think he'd be a great addition. He has a knack of scoring vital goals in big matches and he has that great pace. But I'm not so sure about his temperament, and as the article says above, he does seem like a moaner. Don't think that would go down too well in the dressing room.
