SS Lazio president Sergio Cragnotti says his captain Alessandro Nesta should consider a move to "a large international club."

Cragnotti is not keen to see the Italian international quit the Rome club for Serie A rivals Juventus and Real Madrid have twice tried to sign Nesta in the last year. Manchester United have also looked at the player.

The Spanish club are still favourites to sign the 26 year old despite Juve offering midfielder Edgar Davids to Lazio as part of any transfer.

"It depends on the player," Cragnotti said today.

"But if he leaves Rome I would prefer him to join a large international club."

Cragnotti also denied that Lazio were set to fire coach Alberto Zaccheroni and bring in Chievo coach Luigi Del Neri for next season.

"We are at the beginning of anew cycle under Zaccheroni and I want to continue on the present course."

What a bunch of crap from a usually serious source as BBC! Cragnotti as always believed that there are no flagship players (although I think the other way round!), but we'll have to wait and see what REALLY happens to the Minister of Defense.
Plus, the sum reported is RIDICOLOUS! He won't ever be sold for anything less than 75 million euros. And he is worth every cent.

I was born and raised in the same neighbor, so I'll always be against his selling, being Alessandro the best defensive player on Earth BY FAR.
Anyway, if he doesn't stay, he should go to one of the two best club in the world, so it's either Real Madrid or Man Utd.
