Could a pizza salesman with no charisma or tactical nous, who couldn’t take a penalty to save his life, ever become an England manager?

I wouldn’t have thought it was possible, how about you?
Could he then fail to win anything and then get the Manchester United manager job?

“Fail to win anything” there’s only a major tournament every 2 years and England have won nothing since 1966. He’s the most successful manager since then.

some success that's been.. not winning a major tournament with England squads that he's had at his disposal should be considered a failure.

This is the delusion of England fans, thinking they have the players good enough to win a tournament. They dont.

Give him long enough and he'll magically turn into Fergie 2.0.

Swap the managers around in the last Euros final and Mancini wins it with that England team. On home fecking soil as well.

That wasn't the question nor your assertion
Tell you what, Ive got about 20 years left on this planet if Im lucky. Come back to me in 20 years and tell me how many tournaments England has won. My prediction is a big fat Zero. Ive been predicting England wont win for the best part of 45 years now, still havent been wrong. I actually would love to see England win btw, i think it would be a great story for football. England fans for my entire life have been over stating how good their players are, blind patriotism trips them up every time. keep blaming manager after manager, if it makes you feel better. Its coming up to 60 years since the last tournament win but of course its always the managers fault.
I hope England win this Euro champs. They wont though.

You really think that with a tournament every 2 years after 50 or more years its the managers fault every time????????
Nope, that's why I didn't say that.

Context is key. The crop of talent we had in 2021 was a lot stronger than a few tournaments prior to that, therefore our expectations were higher. I would expect a manager to do better with Kane, Foden, Rice etc than Andy Carroll, Rickie Lambert and Adam Lallana.

So on what are you basing your projection, twenty years into the future, that England won't have won a major trophy?

Well at least we know that Southgate is clueless

He is terrible isn't he. Gets beat by the first good team we come up against. Loses to a bang average Italy side because he decided to play safe. Out played France in spells but instead of going for the win makes substitutions way too late, and takes off our best player in Saka.

If there was a way to bet against England winning the Euros I'd put £100 on it because the second they come up against France or Portugal they're headed for the exit.

We do have the players to win a tournament. We just don’t have the manager playing the right way and getting the best out of them. A more attack minded manager and we’d out score teams with our attacking talent.
