Connection Xbox 360 to Computer Monitor

hdmi to dvi cable. It's fairly cheap.

you can use you composite for sound

What connections does your monitor accept? Does it have speakers?
My monitor only has one connection spot and that's for the standard pc to monitor cable thing. No it doesn't, feck!

Can you get one of them in PC World? What's a composite?

Sounds like you'll want the 360 VGA cable then, it comes with red/white phono for sound and I believe an adaptor to convert those to a single 35mm jack. Will have to plug that into external speakers.

Your xbox comes with it I believe. It's the AV composite cable.

I believe there is hdmi to vga (also what Aporkalypse said) cable but if your monitor has only one spot (vga presumably) then you'd have to switch between pc and xbox by plugging and unplugging cables which is a bit of a pain in the arse.

I use my ps3 with my monitor but I have vga and dvi on it and just switch between console and pc with a push of a button.

Okay cheers lads. I'm going to get one anyway and try it out. So do I need to buy something else to connect the external speakers to the VGA cable? My speakers don't have any where to plug something in? They just have a cable that I plug straight into the PC.

With the cable you buy to plug it into the monitor, there will be 2 leads which come of it which look like this

A red one and a white one I believe. You'll need to get an adaptor which looks like this

Plug the two spare leads into it, and then plug your speakers into the other end.

Female RCA to female 3.5mm adapter. Not sure if that's the correct name but that's what I'd ask for. Just tell them what you're after at the shop and they should be able to help you. Also, it's worth having a look whether you got one free with your speakers.

I like component. The cable should come with the 360, you won't get any compatibility errors and the picture choice is quite flexible.

It's the audio of the composite cable combined with the video of the component wire, you need a tv with Red-Green-Blue hole-things.
