'tis a silly place
Ferdinand Coly is out of contract at the end of the season and Leeds want to use that to their advantage by getting him on the cheap. It seems negotiations quite advanced, possibly a pre-contract agreement. If he's on a free we should definately be interested.

When I was watching Senegal in the world cup Coly was one of there players that i picked out, im not sure how old he is or if we actually need him though?

He's good! At least at the WC he did play awfully good! Quick, strong and a good tackler. We should get him, especially if he's on a free..

cheers mate, i dont know at 29 he is getting older, not one for the future but if its on the cheap then why not!

:D

He's the full-back I would most like to see at OT but I have a feeling he won't be heading to manchester anytime soon.... :(

Apparently he's out of favour at his club due to his unwillingness to sign a new deal, now would be the time to snatch him imo. But I have a feeling Leeds may get him first.

How is it a no brainer? How come this guy is so good all of a sudden? He's been playing with Lens and assorted mediocre french teams all his life hasn't he? He has a decent half dozen matches in a shite world cup and suddenly signing him is a no brainer? Do me a favour.

Compare that with Burdisso.

And pray tell how much have you seen of either of them?

I watched all his games in the WC, where he was outstanding, but not seen Burdisso - but also not seen anyone rate him. Best right back I have seen though is Puyol, we were in for him during the summer and I think we should have tried to have got him.

So actually you're not really in a position to rate either of them then? What I thought.

How can I possibly know having barely seen one of them play and never seen the other play? That's my point, there's not really enough evidence for preferring one over the other and calling a move for one of them over the other a no brainer is it?

The no brainer was that we should sign him surely? Come on. Besides who rates him highly anyway? Tribal Football or Planet Football?

Well if Boro, Birmingham and bloody Rangers are in for him he's obviously not as good as you and Neil think eh?

Boro were interested in Forlan and almost signed him, does that mean he's crap? I'm saying on a free transfer we could do a lot worse for cover at RB.

Boro, Birmingham AND Rangers.

What have you seen of Coly then?

And may I remind you that Poborsky had a great EURO 96 so please don't be coming back with Neil's poor "he had a good world cup" effort.

Not much, the world cup plus a few games from the French league last year, and he didnt stand out from the crowd, but he is a decent player.

So no reason to be interested in him then and especially no reason to be singing his praises eh?

Never 'sang his praises' I just said we could get a player with WC experience who could well be a bargain to cover for Gary or even challenge him for free. Just my opinion, you dont agree, fine, it doesnt look like we'll sign him anyhow.
