City back in for Fowler

ROBBIE FOWLER has performed a remarkable about-turn and is considering rekindling his proposed move to Manchester City, planetfootball.com understands.
The Leeds striker pulled out of a move to Maine Road earlier in January as he claimed he had 'unfinished business' at Elland Road.
However, the England marksman was reportedly unsettled last week by Whites boss Terry Venables`s claim that he may walk out on the club if big stars such as Jonathan Woodgate are sold.
With the manager unsure of his position at Leeds, Fowler grew alarmed at the prospect of being left in the wilderness and thoughts of resurrecting his move to City entered his mind over the weekend.
Talks are now understood to be ongoing, but it is believed that a deal is in the process of being agreed - again.
Both clubs are remaining tight-lipped on the subject, but it is believed that the England ace could complete a move to Manchester in the next few days.
However, the player`s agent George Scott has attempted to play down talk of an imminent move, saying: "Whether he moves on from Leeds depends on where he wants to go and if anyone wants him.
"Leeds would consider an offer for anyone, but there hasn't been a new offer for Robbie.
"As far as Robbie's concerned he's a Leeds United player," Scott told the BBC.
Fowler has not travelled with the Leeds squad for their trip to Chelsea on Tuesday, with Venables claiming that the forward 'needed to work on his fitness'.
The lack of action for Leeds is also said to be a factor behind Fowler`s decision to think again about moving to City.

Sounds to me like he thought someone else (us or the dippers probably) would come in for him.....

3 days to go until the transfer window closes.... he needs to get out of Leeds now & shitty is (was!) the only team even remotely interested.

Fowler stays at Leeds

Fowler wants to find his form in front of goal for Leeds.

Robbie Fowler's transfer from Leeds to Manchester City will not be resurrected before Friday's transfer window deadline, his agent has confirmed.
George Scott rejected speculation that the England striker wanted to go to City and that there had been renewed interest in him from Maine Road.

Fowler's £7m transfer to City from Leeds fell through at the last minute after the striker decided to stay at Elland Road.

"As far as Robbie's concerned he's a Leeds United player," Scott told BBC Sport Online.

"He's happy where he is and has still got three-and-a-half years to run on his contract."

Yes, but he does score them a lot!!!

On TV just now, Citeh denying any deal, or approach. Perhaps Leeds have made the approach to the massives, as a possible way to keep Woodgate.

BBC reports that the deal is close:

I wish they would make their bloody minds up - the news makes sense with Fowler not travelling with the squad today.

We can afford (just) to lose Fowler whereas we can't afford to lose Woody.

Leeds might as well just save us all the time & bother and press coverage by selling Woodgate now, too.

I would hope if Fowler goes then Woody will NOT.

It just seems to be the pattern with Leeds.

offload somebody, claim it has eased the debts and nobody else needs to go, then offload another player a couple of months later. Repeat ad infinitum.

To be honest the team was top heavy in strikers:

Viduka
Smith
Keane
Fowler
Bridges

Way too many and too high a wage bill. Problem is that Keane is gone, Bridges out for another season, and if Fowler goes we'll have only Smith, Viduka, Kewell (who like playing in a forward role instead of left midfield....even though he is better there) and Viduka will miss 3 games soon because of his red card in the FA Cup.

Perhaps Harpal Singh will finally move into the team when Viduka is out with Kewell/Smith up front or else Milner in right midfield with Smith up front?

Sorry, rambling on but Fowler is expendable still...he has not set Leeds on fire and looks unlikely too even if he stays.

- 2 of them are crocks

- one´s a fat, pie eating bastard

- the best one was sold to north london

- the remaining striker is a guy with a poor goalscoring record and who´s always on the verge of being sent off

I have always thought that Smithy playing in midfield, where he has done remarkably well, was just a temporary position. I hope the plan is to move him up back up front with Vids and for another midfielder (??Kleberson??) to be brought in to replace Bow/Dacourt.

If that is the case and we sell Robbie and keep Woody I will be happy.

Risadle obviously listens to me.

Maybe I have some more financial advice to send his way. <img src="graemlins/smirk.gif" border="0" alt="[Smirk]" />
