Tottenham are understood to be about to bid of around £13m for Cisse and, despite the reported “gentleman’s agreement” with Roma, it may mean that Auxerre sell to the highest bidder.
Roma are prepared to wait until 2003 to clinch the signing of the French striker, whereas Spurs would like to conclude a deal this summer.
Liverpool and Roma are also interested in Auxerre defender Phillipe Mexes who, like Cisse, is set to leave the French club.
