I sat directly in line with Keane as he made his warm up.. at his first trot towards the touchline his broody look didn't last long as the fans cheered him like he was carrying the World Cup in his hands! Don't want to sound like a puff.. but it was a very nice moment to see him break into a smile and acclaim the support. KEEEEAAAANNooOOOO

Why do die-hard Keane fans always come across quite gay?

In response to treble reds request in another thread...

Veron has picked up where he left off. wasted a few free kick opportunities, we saw the good and the bad in him again. Forlan put in a good industrious performance, his link up play was top notch. Stewart came on for the last 25 mins and played very well, had a shot from outside the box that brought a brilliant save from the keeper. The defence didn't have anything to do really except cope with a few long balls. Ruud was clinical, should have had 5. Giggs played a cautious game, didn't exert himself that much. Yorke looked preoccupied when he came on, got his goal though (they should never had let him warm up beside the cheerleaders at half time.) Sylvestre had a good game, not surprisingly he looked very fresh. Phil Neville was keen as ever, he put in a 7. Solskjaer was quite enough. Keane gave his usual rants and was basically responsible for ensuring that the game didn't take a friendly meaning. Overall, It was a well contested game, not really exhibition stuff but enjoyable all the same. The new jersey looked very aerodynamic, so nike had a great game.. ok, I'm only taking the piss now but if there's anything you can take from that, which I don't think there is... good luck to ya! I know you asked for a report but instead I decided to give you a bad summary (not intentionally though)

Keano´s god ... it´s as simple as that.

I'd agree with your summary of the game PaddyDuff, apart from phil, I thought he had a bit of a stinker, got caught in possesion a few times, and resorted to fouling to get himself out of a spot a few other times. Fletcher looked lively when he came on too.

Best part of the day for me was when there was about 200 of us waiting at the ground for the team bus before the game. I wasn't sure what type reception Roy would get, but when the bus stopped, he was sitting in the back seat beside Larry, we ALL started chanting "Keano, Keano", he gave a huge smile and looked delighted with himself, and a little embarassed, as Larry was looking around with disbelief on his face. He gave us the thumbs up and you could see he was relieved and very happy with the reception that he got. :D

was there ever a doubt

yep neville was muck, he was right in front of us for the whole second half and was giving away terrible frees, it was ironic that the the young lad he was marking was doing those little step overs that phil likes so much, keano came over and gave him a bollicking a few times, which was funny.

Seba wasted a few bits but in the second half i thought he was brilliant, stewart was great when he came on, i was also impressed with roche, looked a better player when he substituted phil, he looks pacey too very quick.

O'shea looked composed as well, he wasnt exactly marking the best players in the world but he done well, i didnt realise he was so tall!, he was brilliant in the air. He reminds me of a younger rio actually. ;)

up front after we took off van nistelrooy we werent great, disco was shite looked like he hadnt played in ages and i was really looking forward to seeing him do well, he got a good goal though to be fair, ole had an off day, took the wrong option too many times, giggsy made some great runs but his link up play was just that little bit off (thats preseason for you)

overall a good start to the season, oh and i forgot to mention forlan who looked very bright, his link up play was great.

but it was a very nice moment to see him break into a smile and acclaim the support.

Absolutely. The standing ovation when he was brought off was wonderful, the man was grinning like he'd won the lotto....... great stuff

RB is the position we're rather weak. Hope this Roche has the potential to offer us more choices as a backup fullback.

Sorry for hijacking a Keano thread but there seem to be two contrasting opinions on Veron's performance....anyone care to give a third opinion?

Fletcher never came on his wasn't even there

To be honest overall i didn't think he was that impressive. he played one great pass for Ruud, which Ruud could have scored from. He balloned a free kick and you could here the tuts and sighs around the ground. One of the Shels lads Dessie Baker (used to be at Utd) was showboating in front of him at one stage and Seba didn't like it one bit, fouled him on the spot.
It was a typical Seba performance, sloppy with flashes of what he is capable of.......
