Contract's running out according to Guardian.

Used to rate him especially in defending and attacking set pieces. Has good leadership qualities too. But how is his football these days? Still only 30. Short term (temporary) solution to our defensive problems? Maybe a good backup (if he doesn't mind the role)?

Isn't he quite injury prone? Seems to have a really low number of appearances in his career, anyway.

I'd rather we just didn't have back up.

Why is this in Manchester United forum? It should be in transfer one. I freaked out and thought that we actually signed him.

He isn't even a standout player in the Russian league - his only real quality is his physical strength and height.

No thanks. I also feel like he's been 30 for the last 6 years.

Misread this as Cherno Samba - what a FM legend that man was.

Pop him next to Evans, dream.

He was immense at Blackburn but I doubt he's capable of recovering that form.

He isn't comfortable enough on the ball for LvGs style either

I assumed he was about 35 and had gone to the MLS or Aus league or something.

We should get Brede Hangeland too. They're both nailed on to play at a top club at some point in the near future IMO

Wait do you mean some other Christoper Samba who is probably better than the Christopher Samba we all know?

Didn't fat Sam play him as a striker for a few games when they had a bit of an injury crisis? Still unsure if this thread is a joke or not...

Moving this to the transfers.

Cheers. I thought it's a decent cheap and short term option for us (with our injury record). Definitely better than Blanc. I think Samba can do a lot better in teams better than Blackburn and QPR. I always thought he's a good organiser of defense and setpieces in attack. Wiki says he scored 5 goals in 27 matches for current club, dynamo moscow (not sure how good their league is though). So he can still be a goal threat.

So he's better than Blanc, who wasn't really great for us anyway, so we should sign him.

Some people just want us to sign more average defenders it seems and stockpile on them. Our next CB should be world class or atleast potential to be.

Ron Vlaar, Winston Reid, Christopher Samba...

Standards have really dropped :(
