He's available at the end of the season! Just when we don't need another defender. Or...maybe we can sign him instead of Escude?

Ajax confirm Chivu exit

Ajax have confirmed that skipper Cristian Chivu will leave the club at the end of the season.
Chivu's future has been under intense speculation since the summer, with most of Europe's top clubs interested in securing the services of the Romanian defender.
But, at a meeting of shareholders in the club on Friday night, finance director Jeroen Slop revealed: "Cristian Chivu has informed us that this is his last season in Amsterdam."
The 22-year-old is one of Europe's hottest properties and one of the top Spanish or Italian clubs looks set to be his destination.
Ajax boss Ronald Koeman has hinted recently that Chivu may leave before the end of the Eredivisie season in May and revealed that he had already targeted a possible replacement. That is thought to be Barcelona's Holland international Frank De Boer, who has admitted that he would like to end his career back with the Amsterdam club, with whom he made his name.

he is quite and he can play in the left flank too
but he is heading to real madrid

how'd you know...not that its an unlikely destination for him?

I'd rather a full back specialist better than a centerhalf who can also do a job on the left. Seems like we have one of those already!

Yeah, but how good is Escude anyway? Has he been helping Rennes' cause very much? Anyone?

if Blanc is going to retire then i think Chivu will be a good addition to the team IMO. Competition will be plenty!
