I must admit I saw Nemanja, and then my eyes skipped to the end of the surname and saw 'ic'and I had a bit of a where is your god now moment.

Not a good move for Matic IMO. Another Serb that will get feck all games at that club. I would much prefer them to loan him out to a PL club, no matter who because he wont get games at Chelsea.
Potentially a very good midfielder, reminds me of Pirlo/Alonso but better going forward.

Is he better than Kacar?

No. At least not yet. Matic plays in the Slovakian league where Kacar is in the Bundesliga and is one of the most influential players at Hertha.
Matic could be a player though, he is huge and could be a real enforcer but someone who can play. His dribbling is good for his size too.

good riddance to him. never liked him. all serbian and what not. we're a better team without him. just a poor man's terry. now there's a real defender. brave, good in the air, commanding and most importantly loyal. he's not one to have his head turned by money or what not. hopefully nemaja can learn a lot from england's very own lion heart and the centre of their defence and will learn to conduct himself with class. if there's one thing vidic could learn from jt it's how to be a class act. on and off the field. good riddance to bad rubbish i say. rio and jonny at the back from now on.

If we can develop some strikers then yes. Our midfield and defence is stacked right now as it is, when the new prospects come through it will be a very healthy selection.
Ljajic, Matic, Sulejmani, Tosic, Kacar, Kuzmanovic etc..

However I doubt he'll ever see the colour of the pitch with all these central midfielders operating.

The latest Player in Portugal linked with us. We are certainly doing something there with increased scouting presence at many games over this season but everybody seems to be guessing who is the target.
Matic seems to be a decent player. But dunno, didn't particularly stand out against Newcastle.

Arruda has been raving about his performances in Portugal. I've not really watched him recently at all.
He's a big, powerful midfielder which is something I think we lack. I have no idea how good he actually is though.
Terrific player, a little slow but makes up for it with impressive technique for a guy of such height.

Never really seen him but Arruda and Uncle Fester rate him? Interesting.
Did we ever stop scouting in portugal though? I remember a number of years ago when Querioz admitted we were looking at about 7 different players in portugal including moutinho. And then said we are always following the whole league.
Obviously with CQ gone maybe things have changed a bit, but we still signed Bebe... or maybe thats the reason to think that we dont scout Portugal anymore...
As for the story... Uh am I reading this correctly? Theres a big story in a paper that Matic had agreed to join us in principle... But we havent even made contact and havent bid for him. So hes just one of thousands of players who would join us if we just so happened to try and sign them?

We scout in Portugal like any other country regularly, but Scouts in recent times have been spotted more frequently according to reports this season. And it's not the normal Portugal based scouts either but Martin Ferguson and others who are more recognizable for the media too.
Same reports were coming out of Germany last season.
I guess the story says Contact has been made with him and he has agreed to join. All speculative of course and to be taken with a pinch of salt, but i think we make contact with the player and confirm before negotiating with the club. No point agreeing a fee with the club for a player that doesn't want to join.

I know nothing about him other than he was at Chelsea once. I've never seen him play. But I want him here. That's the state of our midfield, any decently rated player will do! It's going to be one hell of a muppet summer, with a possibility of all of us being disappointed (again).
Just buy him. Just buy midfielders. It's beyond a joke
