Manchester United director Sir Bobby Charlton has warned Arsenal they could be on the receiving end of a late twist in the title tail, similar to the one they inflicted on Liverpool 13 years ago. Liverpool were seemingly assured of the title in 1989 when they needed only to avoid a two-goal defeat at home to the Gunners to lift the trophy.
But just when it seemed they were home and dry Michael Thomas famously scored in the dying seconds to ensure that the north London side prevailed against the odds.
Charlton warned: "We are still alive.
"Football is a strange game. We'll wait and see. Remember the 1988-89 season, with Liverpool and Arsenal. We will just do our best and win as many games as we can."
