Europe's leading goalscorer and Burnley center forward; is he good enough for the top flight? I hear that both Arsenal and Liverpool have been heavily scouting him plus a host of less prestigious Premier League clubs. His finishing ability is without question, but has he got enough to his game to warrant a step up?

He's no Wilfried Bony

Those who know more about him that I reckon he's a bit of a route one footballer. Hoof the ball and he'll turn it into something sort of player...not really a pretty player with tons of technical ability...but that's only what I hear.

Wonder if he has an Irish Grandma....:)

Hadn't heard of him until Zaha got the England call up and I checked the Championship goal scorers chart. Certainly impressive stuff. Logic would suggest we'll see him in the PL before long.

Ebanks Blake could score for fun in the Championship, doing the same in the though Premier League is a different kettle of fish.

No doubt, but someone will take a punt on him if Burnley don't get promoted themselves.

He flopped at Hungerford Town.

Yeah he's from humble beginnings, there aren't many success stories from lower league to Premiership in that fashion; our own Chris Smalling is one though and there can be no complaints about his development so far.

Since leaving Hungerford Town aged nineteen Austin has scored 112 goals in 156 games, 16 in 15 games at Championship level this season. He's only 23 years old; it'll be interesting to see if there's anything in the Arsenal/Liverpool rumours come January, as if he is able to stick to his goalscoring form in the Premier League he's going to be one hell of a player.

Got a few Burnley mates and they are fairly bemused as to how he keeps scoring.

Doesn't have many obvious assets to his game, but you can't knock his eye for a goal.

Saw him play against Crystal Palace a month or so ago. He scored, but did not look that great. I don't think he will be that great in the PL. Got nothing in his game that will trouble premier league defenders.

Used to be a plumber didn't he until a few years ago when he got noticed. Clearly knows where the goal is but Championship seems to be his level.

This is pretty much the impression I get of him. He doesn't look like he has much to his all-round game, but yet, he seems to manage to score quite regularly.

Think he won one of those 'Earn a contract' kind of competitions at Swindon, struck gold with him and sold him for a good fee.

He used to lay bricks
He used to lay briiiiiiiicks
Charlie Austin,
He used to lay bricks.

This chant my Uni mate always sings is all I have to offer.

Well, he's 6'2" and a great header of the ball, knows where to position himself in the attacking phase and scores when given the opportunity. He sounds a lot like a taller Hernandez in that respect, another player who many said didn't have the all-round game to make it at a big club. How's Austin like for pace?

Kinda like Alan Shearer then ? He wasn't a great passer of the ball - his link-up play wasn't that great. He didn't have a great leap - nor was he very tall. But he wasn't that bad when it came to scoring goals :)

Some teams don't need a link up striker, they need goalscorers.

I suppose in a way Ricky lambert and grant holt is similar, people never gave him much chance but they've proved they can score

Used to play non league for Poole town in the Wessex league and was a bricklayer.
Released by reading before Poole.
Trials at bournemouth - couldn't sign due to transfer embargo - wen Swindon, smashed that, same at burnley now after a slow start.
He's a great story.
