Quality !

Knew it was going to happen, after some show boating in the front of media, its a full blown war now.
Indian cricket board election are going on right now and they a mess of their own, apparently outcome of this election could decide which one of ganguly or chappel will survive.

I am actually glad we are going through this crisis, last time we build a great time was after the match fixing scandal, I hope we get rid of all the dead wood like ganguly. Laxman and kumble to follow please...

True..

As much as it pisses me off, it really has been comical. Indian cricket really did need someone tough to straighten all the egoes out, instead Chappels fitted right into the mess. Ganguly was the inspiration behind this teams early successes and i dont think Dravid can lead like he does, but then again hes batting like a loony and may just be having a negative effect in the dressing room. I mean who the feck is he going to set straight the way hes been playing. Then we have Chappel who talks too much and doesnt seem to back it up. And finally the board, who seem to screw up everything.

I dont know, everytime something like this happens, i hope it will sort people out. But this time it looks really bad. IMO this Indian team needs to start again and for that to happen one of them will have to go, i dont think they can work together. IMO Ganguly should be the one, Chappel hasnt even got a proper chance to work at this team, let him and dravid work with the younger lot and lets see what happens. Confusion..

When Mark Taylor was about to retire after the Ashes, this Chappel and his elder brother started a coup and demanded Shane Warne should be appointed as the Aussie captain ahead of Steve Waugh. They said Waugh was too concerned about himself to lead the Aussie team. The ACB rubbished their ramblings and the rest was history.

Warne would have made a superb captain.

Has Kumble not been in excellent form?

Kumble is past it, he is still very good compared to other teams' spinners, but we can produce better ones if we give the chance to some waiting in the wings.
Some one like karthik would have been one of the best now if he had been given the experience.

As fars as Laxman goes, I have never liked him. He is very slow and lethargic and has always come across as selfish to me. Numerous times he has batted for his own landmark rather than team needs. He is already not in th ebest ODI 11 and its time yuvraj or kaif were given the chance in test ahead of him.

Agree about Laxman, although if you look at it, Ganguly should be dropped before Laxman. Yuvraj is one of the most talented young batsman around and Kaif has done very well of late and both deserve to be in the test team on merit. Plus kaif will be a huge lift on the field.

Kumble should now just play at home, if we are preparing spinning tracks, otherwise bhajji is better than him. Our main strike bowler is Pathan and if he can work on his batting he has it in him to be a proper allrounder and one of the best in the world. Hes got a very correct batting technique, can hit the ball very hard and is one of the finest bowlers iv seen in recent times.

IMO Indian cricket needs a fresh start. The last time we put the 'out with old, in with the new' theory into practice, we came up with the best Indian team in decades. Its time now to rebuild this team.. Out of the Older lot, only Dravid and Sachin(if we ever comes back) should stay.. Let Ganguly struggle it out for a place in the team. Also Dhoni needs to be in the test team.

This would be my ideal 11 if everyone is fit:

Gambhir
Sehwag
Dravid
Tendulkar
Yuvraj
Kaif
Dhoni
Pathan
Harbhajan
Zaheer
Nehra

We have batsman waiting on the wings. Iv heard Akaash Chopra has done well in England recently, so did Mongia awhile back. And i never want to see Venugopall Rao play for India again!

Ganguly is difficult - Flintoff

Wright criticises public dispute
England star Andrew Flintoff has revealed he found it difficult working with India captain Sourav Ganguly.
Ganguly has been involved in a public dispute with India coach Greg Chappell over his position.

And Flintoff, who played alongside the India skipper at Lancashire in 2000, said he could be an awkward character.

"Ganguly just didn't work out at all. He turned up as if he was royalty - it was like having Prince Charles on your side," he wrote in his autobiography.

I don't dislike the bloke, but it's a struggle with him

Flintoff on Ganguly
Chappell and Ganguly have been told to sort out their differences after the row erupted when the Australian told the Indian cricket board his thoughts on the captain's shortcomings.

Ganguly is India's most successful captain in history in terms of the number of Tests won.

But England all-rounder Flintoff wrote in his forthcoming book, Being Freddie: "You can accept a player not playing well, because we all have our ups and downs in our career, but he just didn't want to get involved.

"He wasn't interested in the other players and it became a situation where it was 10 players and Ganguly in the team."

Flintoff is due to face Ganguly again when England tour India in the New Year.

"We say hello to each other now and we are pleasant to each other, but it doesn't go any further than that," said Flintoff.

"I don't dislike the bloke, but it's a struggle with him."

Sunil Gavaskar, a member of the panel that appointed Chappell as coach and also brokered the truce with Ganguly, said Flintoff's view was a misconception.

"Ganguly has been portrayed as somebody who comes from a royal family," said the former Test great.

"It's just a misconception, I think. He's a hard-working cricketer."

Agree with Flintoff on some of that, although we all know they never got along. The famous swinging of the shirt by Ganguly was a reply to what Flintoff did in India. Ganguly seems to have lost the plot of late, but i wouldnt read much into Flintoffs comments.

Ganguly is too full of himself. If they Indian cricket board have any pride, they should fire his sorry arse or else no one's going to want to coach India.
Its all a little hyped up. For about 3 years he was supposed to be one of the top captains in the world, and everyone used to rave about how hed turned our miserable Indian team into a confident, solid unit which was willing to fight.

I know hes been playing poorly of late, and i wanted him out as well. But people shouldnt forget all hes done for Indian cricket. Doubt hes got the attitude problems a few people mention he has, considering hes one of the most successful batsman in the history of ODI's and has those achievements iv mentioned above, as a captain.

Ganguly used to play for Hounslow. Prince of Calcutta my arse.

OK, before someone comes in they are both legends, and Flintoff is in the process of becoming one.

Could be. You never know..
But Sachins so much better than Lara its not even close. I personally feel even Dravid is a better test batsman than Lara.

These cricket 'discussions' of ours have got to be the most boring things on the cafe...
