An absolute classic in the CM/FM series and some would argue that it was the best. It was the first of the series that I had played and within hours I was hooked.

Still remember the shit hot players on it like Sonny Anderson, Alfonso Perez, Florian Maurice and Emile Heskey  tearing it up.

I think it's thanks to this game that I am qualified to come on a internet forum and proclaim a player is great without having seen them play!

Anyway, my main reason for starting this thread is that I'm havin trouble getting the game started on vista. When I open the file CM2E16, I'm greeted with the following message: 'this system does not support fullscreen mode, choose close to terminate the program'

Anyone have any idea how to solve this? I'm certain I've played the game on this laptop before

I can't believe you didn't mention Ibrahima Bakayoko, he was the best of the lot!

It wasn't the first that I played (I played CM Italy), but it's definitely my all time favourite.

Have you tried running it in compatability mode for Windows 95?

I don't think you need DOS-box to run it, but I'm not 100% sure.

Cheers for the info lads, I've tried using dosbox but I don't seem to be making much progress there.

Think I'll try running it in Windows 95 mode

Edit, Bakayoko was mint. I also remember signing Ariel Ibagaza as a 17 year old for Berwick Rangers. At the time I presumed he was just a generated name but when I saw his name pop up in Spanish football a few years ago I couldn't believe it. I also couldn't believe how he was granted a work permit for Scottish division 3!

It was brilliant.
All the Noggies and Swedes were incredibly overrated in that game.

Ah yes.. back in the day when I was hoping for Bojan Djordjic to step up!

Good stuff.

I'm a bit of a noob and not totally sure what I'm doing.
Alright, install CM 97/98. Then load up DOSBox. Open up Windows Explorer and navigate to the directory where CM 97/98 is installed. Right-click launch.exe (I think that's the executable) and click Properties. Focus on the location field.

In DOSBox, type the following:

Code:
mount t "[i]location[/i]"
t:
launch

where location is the location in the Properties window, surrounded by quotes. It should load; if not, then an error message will be useful.

Ah, that might be where I'm going wrong. I lost my copy years ago so I have since downloaded it. The file though is only a rar file containing all the files and when I've played before, I haven't needed to install anything. All I had to do was click on the CM2E16 icon and the game would load up as normal.

Thanks anyway

Just installed both cm9798 and dosbox

works a treat
