Can anyone tell me why Gary Neville was captain on Saturady over Giggsie?? And when the brother Neville went off who took the captains arm band??


I know Gary Neville was captain of our successful youth team, but I would have thought their were more players in front of him who warranted to be captain.

I was almost ashamed to see P. Neville wearing the armand, he shouldn't be in the squad. I don't mind Gary, I'd say he's a busy little c**t aroung the dressing room ;) .

Scholes was the only one trying to motivate people on Sat, so other than him nobody deserved to wear it.

I've always thought of Gary as a natural leader and only a matter of time before he captained United but following Stam's comments I don't know how popular he is with his team mates. Not that popularity is the sole pre-requisite for such a position. Obviously when Roy was appointed that set him back a bit as far as that ambition was concerned. Then Becks took over for England and when he made a success of that he stepped into Roy's shoes during his absence as captain at United. Unfortunately Saturday was a disaster not only for the team but for Gary personally. I can only think that with Roy & Becks ahead of him and with Rio as a possible future leader, Gary's chances are limited.

What has gone wrong with our youth system it must be in a pretty bad way if we haven't got a young midfielder who isn't better than P. Neville

As for Gary to be fair he is normally Mr reliable but I wish he would give up the Tony Adams arm in the air routine.As for the Captains Armband it shouldn't make a differance who wears it.
