Best team.. my arse~
juz wanna find out what your reactions were when King Cantona did what he did in Selhurst Park in 1995.

Was there a bigger outcry in the media and amongst the fans than this keano book fiasco? Were the fans in England behind Cantona after that incident?

<img src="graemlins/keano.gif" border="0" alt="[Keano]" />

The media coverage has been about the same. The difference is that Eric's offence stayed in the public eye for longer, because of the court proceedings. The Keane incident will be forgotten in a couple of months. The Cantona incident stayed in the puiblic eye for a few years.

Sure hope so. Maybe Keano will come back storming like Les' King did... n maybe pop in a penalty against the massives ;)

roy´s scheduled to make his comeback at anfield on december 1st ....

Eric made he come back against Liverpool and scored, granted that was at Old Trafford. Life's full of funny co-incidences

I didn't blame Eric at all.

I know he shouldn't have done it - but why should a player have to put up with that kind of stuff just because he's seen as a soft target.

Well Eric wasn't. <img src="graemlins/devil.gif" border="0" alt="[Devil]" />

Everything Keane and Cantona have done has been blown up out of proportion. I've seen worse incidents than Eric's outside clubs and bars and nothing has been done about it.

As for Keane's "misdemeanours", Patrick Viera has been sent off far more frequently than Roy, yet nothing has been said on the scale that seems to follow Roy around.

Blame the media. I read about Lazio's Ultras beating up hacks for what they wrote in the papers. In a moment of madness I would say we should do the same here too, though I know better.

Its not just Eric and Roy, its everyone associated with the club. Its the price they pay for being at the biggest club in the world. We are a soft target for the media, they know that any story associated with MU will sell papers so the longer they can keep a story running for, the more secure there job with the scum sucking press is. (No offence to the serious football journalists)

Cantona had his moments...here and there

Keano has a history of some outrage on his part or some sort of controversy sounding his antics nearly every or every other week.

Other than him being out of the picture for a spell for the hip injury/operation maybe we'll see a more positive atmosphere on the field.
Granted he has been the driving force as he always has been this season...there something missing...such as team unity.

unfortunately i don't think that is just down to Roy Keane. I think last season has effected the players more than we thought. It looks as if some of them are playing with little or no confidence. Its like they are expecting something bad to happen, or one of their team mates to make a mistake. Hopefully the 8 points from 12 will mean the confidence in each other start to ebb back into the team.

I thought the banner the United fans had tonight was great "KEANE ADORED IN MANCHESTER"
Underneath it read: "Cantona 95 Beckham 98 Keane 02"
In other words we'll support our United brothers when the rest of the public is against them <img src="graemlins/devil.gif" border="0" alt="[Devil]" />

I can understand your confusion there! Looked like some player none of us could remember. But no-one wanted to admit it.

We're the soul of Man Utd, either you want it or not...

It's a pity that these journalists think that, concerning Man Utd, money is everything. I don't get myself new kits every 3 months, David Beckham (or whatever) is not my idol, I just love the team... and I'm very sure that most of you people are just like me... :p

I'd agree with that Dmode. That banner last night said it all, thats what real supporters are :D . Poor Mddsboro, their team lacked imagination nearly as much as their fans choices of song

I dont think they should be compared.

Cantona's sanity was never questioned whilst Keane has shown signs of having some 'problems'.

Cantona didnt criticise his team mates or put himself above the team in this way - if talking about your team mates problems in public 'helps' them, surely Becks wudnt have protected Keane so much.

Keane need to be put on a leash cos he is getting worse and I hope Man Utd dont start condoning this type of behaviour - we're supposed to be a different class ad class players dont NEED to do this crap.

I beg to differ. Cantona and Keano had their fair share of infamous skirmishes with the law,and they were/are the lynchpins of the team.
Both have an attitude to boot. But that's part of what make them so unique and tremendously adored in the team.

Well, Keano had never said that he had shied away from failure of last season, did he? He blamed himself, and of cos' virtually everyone. But then again, truth always hurts... ;)

Cantona didn't have to blame anyone cos from the day he stepped in here, we won almost everything to be won less the year he went crazy at selhurst. We had fire and desire for success, and accordingly to keano, this is now lacking in this present team...
