Sorry for starting another Veron topic, but I thought that this angle might deserve its own thread.

After all, the similarities are all there. Both can't tackle even if they tried, both have wonderful touches on the ball and great passing ability and vision.

I really can't see why Veron can't do for us what Bergkamp does for the Arse? If we employ him in this floating role, then we don't even need to try to buy a new striker. ;)

I also suggested this in another thread, but problem is SAF wants to use Scholes behind the forward line.

it surely wouldn't hurt to swap their positions for a change though. it could work.

I totally agree, of course. Someone said that this experiment was tried once b4 and failed. But I think in the form we were at at that time, everything would have failed. I say we should give it another shot. Maybe experiment in the worthless cup?

That has tpo be the worst thing i've read on the Caf this century

If he had half the qualities of Bergkamp he'd be a brilliant player

Keep off the mushrooms mate

I remember Fergie has actually tried that once in last season. Both Becks and Veron have been tried on that position without success.

what qualities?

sorry to say veron doesn't meet the quality that had by bergkamp. Veron do have more ability with his right foot, bergkamp is more skillful because he control very well with both legs. We should have buy him early when he was young. Veron is like playing hockey with his right leg, keen to say he doesn't worth with his price.

Passing to players in the same side, showing passion, scoring wonder goals week in week out, tackling with grit and determination, great vision that resuts in a pin point pass to a player on the same side, completing passes that stay within the boundries of the stadium.....

I'll stop there cos i haven't enough time to complete the full list

Veron cant play too further because he'd run out of pitch space to big toe the ball into.

we should play him either left back (in the changing room) or quarterback where he can hide behind the 4 big defenders and hoof the ball forward as much as he likes ;)

The key point is: Fergie has actually tried that ONCE! ;)

No. Let's stop inventing things, he's not for us. Sorry for the bloke but that's it, we can't sacrifice the whole team/club's performance trying to solve the puzzle.
