So far this season, the Ferrari has looked poor, the Bridgestone has looked awful, can one man's genius pull it off?

If he makes it this season, I think it'll be his greatest triumph.

His car just isn't good enough. He's still the best driver around but if his car is going to be so far off the pace it doesn't matter how good he is.
He's relying on mistakes by other drivers and both Kimi and Alonso are good enough mentally to hold him off, you saw that in previous GP's.

Can't see it. They have mid-race pace, but feck all else. Even if they get it right now, I think Renault and particularly McLaren will keep on improving. The only hope for Ferrari is if they they get it right immediately, Barrichello pulls his head out his hole, Williams continue to show as they did yesterday, and BAR come back strong to take points of Renault and McLaren. Even then...

If Renault improve their tyre wear problem then they will be hard to stop. The straight line speed and the pace they have coming out of corners make them almost impossible to pass.

Yes he can. The new Ferrari is frighteningly quick, although circumstance has hidden this somewhat. Sure the tyres have been an issue, but that is causing Renault and McLaren bigger problems in the races. With the unlimited testing time Ferrari will have far and away the best package by the end of the season... they've already got that by the second half of races at Schumacher's electric pace yesterday and a few weeks ago has shown.

Considering Schumacher was lapped after losing his front wing to finish just 40 seconds behind Raikkonen sends out a clear message. If they can just sort the balance so the car can pass and bridgestone can find a tyre that can cope with one lap qualifying then expect Schumacher to be back in cruise control. Personally I'm just thankful the races now come thick and fast denying Ferrari time to test.

McLaren aren't really suffering with tyre problems. Kimi showed that in the last two races. Okay he was able to relax yesterday but in the race before (Spain I think) he couldn't. The new Ferrari maybe be quick but the front end just doesn't work. And for one i'm glad last season was terrible but this season is so much better. Melborne aside.

They need to get rid of this unlimited in season testing, it just allows the teams with the bigger budgets to gain an un-needed advantage. If you limit the testing team like Jordan, Minardi and the other smaller teams will not be punished unnecessarily.

I dont think he is out of it completely....give it a couple more races, if his car still hasnt improved and he dosent get the results he's looking for I think you can count him out of the race for the championship. But like I said I still believe he is in with an outside chance at the moment.

Personally, I think he still has a chance and frankly Monaco is not like any other circuit, with the big & long straights races coming up, I think the Ferrari should really start demostrating its power.

Kimi's emergence has also decreased Alonso's lead, so all is still up for grabs.

Not in the same way as Renault, but they certainly have an issue. Their tyre wear is actually great, but the car wasn't competitive. The only way they've got up to (and exceeded) Renault's pace is by running on the softer compounds, and it is there they are having problems. They are pushing those tyres further than they can go, but they have to run them to be on the pace.

no chance
ferrari has been poor this season
their strategies have been like a see-saw,sometimes good and sometimes poor
bad luck has played its part and bridgestone has been crap again
the car has frightening pace but it doesn't show throughout the whole race

The scoring system will work against him as well, he needs to be putting wins on the board, starting right now, and hope that Fernando loses the run of himself.

Right on cue - Canada, with Fernando dabbling in title talk.

Finger out Mick, these boys will shit themselves if you win in Montreal and they score a non-finish.

Schumacher's time is up.

Hand on heart, I think the championship is beyond Ferrari (and as a result, him) this season....but it's not like he's become a bad driver overnight. He'll win races this year, no question - because technically I reckon he's still the benchmark. Has some of the fire gone? Possibly, he should have put the moves on Alonso at Imola, any move, clean one, dirty one, questionable one, doesn't matter...but that's easy in hindsight.

Ferrari has been awful this season and this has lead to Schumacher providing us with some of racing skill that has been lacking ever since Ferrari had a car that only needed to be driven to win races. He has been taking more risks and has contributed to better racing this season. If Ferrari get their car right somehow he'll be winning non-stop again.

Still think and hope that the championship will be going to McLaren and Kimi tho.

With the huge straights in Canada, followed by USA, I think Ferrari can start to stage a fightback, there are also more races this year than before, so time is on his side.

I reckon 33/1 is not bad odds for the greatest driver in history to make up the gap. ;)

i would say no chance cal
schumacher has to win 4 straight races and hope kimi and alonso pick up very few points from them and i think it is highly improbable
still reckon schumacher will finish 2nd in the drivers championship though
i would like to say also that the driving this year sometimes has been particularly poor especially from people like alonso and kimi, making few mistakes and still running away with races, perhaps it got to do with the new tyre rules and the aerodynamis that made it harder to drive but heck last time if you made a mistake you are gone, you will lose the race but it seems nowadays that one car will pull far ahead like the last few races and the standard of driving has not been very very high
