Campbell and Evans to return after their loan spells

Loan stars Fraizer Campbell and Jonny Evans can look forward to playing in the Premier League next season even if their team-mates at Hull City and Sunderland do not manage it ... Sir Alex Ferguson wants them back at Manchester United.

'They're gaining valuable experience as well as doing a good job for their clubs but they're coming back,'said the United boss. 'They will get the chance to prove they have a future here.'

Great news for most of us, except the transfer muppets. There will probably no 4th striker coming in this summer to wank about

I'm no TM, but I think a new striker is almost guaranteed this summer, and is necessary I'd say.
 
I wolud be happy with both Campbell and Welbeck fighting for the 4th striker spot...
 
Campbell is lightening quick.

Whoever we do sign up front, we probably won't be signing a speed demon - and though Rooney is quick, he's not one the quickest. Tevez certainly isn't. And Saha hasn't looked half as fast as he used to be.

Would be handy to keep him round as 4th/5th choice for cup games and if he does well, handy to have him on the bench.
 
Welbeck is too good for Antwerp, but i'm worried he might get badly injured in the Championship. I'd rather he stay and take up that 7th sub spot on the bench next season, and slowly collect some Premiership experience as well as Carling Cup.

Welbeck's only 17, and still quite thin. Probably a bit early for him to make a realistic first team bid. I think a loan away seems more likely. Hanging around the fringe of the first team as the seventh sub on the bench, at best he'll get a few minutes here and there. At his age he needs to log many hours of playing time in games where there's something at stake.

Campbell has had a good season at Hull, who are in a playoff spot nearing the end of the campaign. If that quote is to be believed, sounds like he'll get at least a shot to make it here next season as 4th striker. But Welbeck hasn't even shown he can do what Campbell has done. So probably a loan first before he has a crack at being a United player.

Seeing as there have been so few players to make the step up from the academy of late, does that make us Reserve Muppets for spending so much time talking about players who seem to inevitably be sold? Step up from a TM, but still.

Welbeck is not near enough to go on loan. He is still eligible for the youth cup next season and hasn't proven himself at Reserve level consistently either.
 
Evans was great yesterday for Sunderland against Villa, if he can perform like that consistently in the PL he could well have a future at OT.

Out of them all, Evans for me has the best chance. He's a natural footballer and plays the game without fear.

I have very high hopes for him.

It's always nice to see youngsters coming through, both got a chance as I see it.
 
great news in theory, but we've heard the same thing from SAF about the likes of Jones and Rossi so i'm not going to get my hopes up.
 
Campbell was alright for England U21's tonight, didn't get much of the ball when he came on as sub but used it effectively. His link up play is better than I thought and he managed to play one or two incisive through balls for the wingers.

Anyone else seen much of Evans, either here or especially at Sunderland? What sort of player is he? Any scouting report would be appreciated.
 
Keep in mind next season the Premiership is allowing 7 men on the subs bench. This might be a blessing for youth players who now can fight for the two extra spots allocated.
 
what has Pique done that implies he´s better than Brown?

nothing. Brown has been a great servant for United, playing over 300 games for the club, you don´t to that unless you have quality. Pique has played less than 10 games for us and is still largely unproven.

Unlike you I am certain Brown is too good and too old for our bench. At 28, over his injury problems and on form our bench is no place for him. Neither will he ever get better than he is now. There is no way he will want to bench because of Neville again, neither will he want to bench if we sign a Neville replacement at fullback either. Which is likely. And player of his caliber have no business being back up center backs at his age. That should be the exclusive reserve of Evans and Pique. Two talented lads who have the potential of becoming better than Brown ever was. Keeping Brown around simply hinders their progress. So its a straight choice IMO between Keeping Brown or letting Pique and Evans develop. I know what I prefer

Fair enough. I reckon Brown would get plenty of games but there you go. I doubt Pique will ever be a better defender than Brown. He'll certainly be a better footaller though. Maybe he'll end up at CM.

So Ole should have left so Nardiello or Ebanks Blake could have got a chance then? I see where you're coming from but I think you've come at it from a way too cut and dry position.

No. The chances are that a replacement will be bought for Neville, the chances are that replacement will be better than Brown, so therefore the chances of Brown playing regularly are limited so therefore, the chances of him wanting to leave are high.
 
Campbell or Welbeck are going to have to step up next season can see fergie buying at least one striker in the summer. If Saha goes they could have an impact.

Mate, You are trying to compare apples to oranges and claiming they are the same thing. First off, Blake and Nardiello were never really ever good enough to have their progress slowed by Ole. Secondly, Ole was a striker, a position in which a lot of rotation occurs. So eh was always going tog et enough games for a player of his quality. Rotation though doesn't happen often in defence. Thus keeping Brown just to beef up our bench IMO is pointless. Youngsters like Pique and Evans instead should be benchers IMO not people of Brown's calibre.
