Buying a ps3

hey, so after my troubles with xbox, i have decided heres the chance to buy a ps3. But theres lots of different ones for sale, all different harddrive space
theres the PS slim and so on.

Is there any performance differences? is there any neat thing that one console has the other doesnt? is any of them quite glitchy ?

also, what are the graphics like compared to the 360.
 
My advice would be to wait a little an make sure that you get the CECH-2100x model. You should see this on the box itself. It's the new model with the 40nm RSX, so less power, coller, less noise. It's a slim.

As for the graphics, that's a complex question, however, the PS3 does have the most impressive graphics in almost every genre where there is a 1st party game.
 
UnitedBoy, unless you want a blu ray player get a 360. . .it's much better for games.

The BR player is good, however it's region encoded. . .which his a huge pain in the arse because I can't play Criterion's BR catalogue. It depends whether you're bothered about playing region 1 BRs.

You aren't qualified to compare, to be fair. I've got both systems and I've been very disappointed with the games the PS3 has to offer. As I said, if he wants a BR player then it's worth it, otherwise stay away.
 
Don't you think that there is something seriously wrong when 1st and 2nd party XB360 exclusives such as Halo 3 and Alan Wake are coming out as sub-HD even though they don't have to deal with any multi-platform issues and have all of the time in the world? Alan Wake 540p, really?

As for your idea that the Sony 1st parties are not performing far better than the Microsoft ones, it's quite frankly ridiculous. Even some of the ambitious 3rd party stuff, we are now getting rumours that games such as RAGE and Crysis 2 perform better on the PS3.

It doesn't allow you to be a pirate though does it? Which is probably your problem.
 
Asda have the 120GB model with a chart game for £245

Best offer I've found so far. I don't know how the likes of GAME and HMV are competing with the supermarkets because they charge a lot more.

so when is this new model out? will there be much difference in the new one and just buying the ordinary slim ?


i just played on a friends he had fifa 09, the detail was very impressive compared to the xbox, But the colours were different, Like someone said here.
 
It should already be in the retail channel, but there are older models still there.

Colour differences are to do with the settings of the PS3 and the calibration of the TV.

I've never mentioned anything about 1st party releases. Tell you what you recommend me some games. How's that then?
