Moussa Dembélé needs no introduction on a United forum as he has been linked on and off with us since his Celtic and Fulham days, Aouar and Cornet are also quite well established by now, then you have Cherki and Caqueret and da Silva coming through the ranks. Bruno Guimarães is a recent addition to the team in a €20 million deal from Athletico Paranaense, and is widely rated as the best midfield export from Brazil since Arthur. Interested in seeing how he, and Lyon, develop in the near future — and whether they can hold on to all the talent as potential Monaco-esque challengers to the juggernaut of Paris Saint-Germain in Ligue 1 over the short term — and beyond that, a decent presence in the Champions League...like they were at various points in the 2000s with Juninho, Cris, Coupet, Kallström and the progression of Essien, Benzema, Abidal, Diarra and co.

Brazil certainly seem to have some interesting players. I'm looking forward to seeing Guimarães when Lyon play Lille, as I'm interested in both Osimhen, and the Brazilian, Magalhães, who is the same age as Bruno. Admittedly, his performance against PSG 4 days prior, will be more telling of the qualities G possesses. Especially with the pressure Tuchel will be subjected too.

His dominant foot is right. However, I'd say he's comfortable with either foot which gives him the opportunity to make passes which aren't telegraphed. Matic was an interesting player at Benfica. He was deployed as the defensive linchpin, yet demonstrated qualities of a defensive box to box midfielder. This was great for Benfica's situation as they were predominantly the favourites, meaning they could expect the onus to be on them to take the game to the opposition, and essentially win. Bear in mind Benfica utilised a 4-4-2 with Enzo Perez the more offensive of the two. People that have watched Guimarães much more than me have likened to him to a box to box midfielder, whereas some have claimed he's best deployed as a #6 that has the bonus of Brazilian flair meaning regardless of formation he should never be limited to a pure ball stopping midfielder, but rather inherently capable of contributing to his team in offensive forays as well as providing defensive security for those behind him. A technical DM that contributes offensively.

Not surprised at all with his good start at Lyon. I was probably the only poster championing his signing for us due to his ability and low cost when he was at Atletico Paranaense. Can see him being sold in a few years for a big profit.
Seems like another cheap, young talent that we've missed out on.
Very good performances in friendlies after the restart. Will be interesting to see him against PSG today and Juventus in the second leg.

We've actually been heavily linked since he was in Brazil but never enough it seems to actually pull the trigger.
I know a big deal was made out about him choosing Newcastle over Arsenal when he signed for them, but as far as I'm aware we never actually got to that position where he had to make that choice.
It's a shame, because I was all for it, & given the Brazilian connection already at the club I thought he'd have fiited in really well with us.

Quality player. Another missed chance to sort out DM. Analytics FC with a huge win on this one, was highlighted a long time ago with his mix of ball progression and defensive ability and standing out in Ligue 1, taken to the premier league effortlessly and led Newcastle's transformation. Had so much hype in the first half of the season at Lyon and he's lived up to it.

A great player but he’s also mentally very strong and steps up when he needs to. Utd need to recruit players with some balls and willing to take responsibility like him!
I recall that a lot of our fans rated our January window at 6 or 7/10. I never understood why. There are good deals out there if you know your football.
Pointed this player out months ago when he was at Lyon. I don't mean that as a boast because he could have turned out turd in reality for all I know as you have to marry stats to a full assessment, but it's hugely frustrating how our analytics department seem incapable of picking out a deal.
His stats were unbelievable in some areas, it didn't take a genius to work out he was a good try for the money. We need to be far better with our recruitment if we're going to work our way up without spending 2 trillion.

And yet united never learn and are hopelessly chasing after another marquee signing that would cost an overinflated transfer fee/wages and doesn't really want join us in de Jong.
Him and Joelinton look a different breed of brazilian player. Both hard working, love a tackle and have the built in flair of the south americans. fecking annoying if you ask me that we werent in for either of them. Do our scouts watch the french leagues? Lots of players seem to come from there but we only buy from Portugal or Dortmund.

Are you kidding me? Joelinton was ridiculed for being a travesty of a striker, he is 25 years old and just got repositioned into being a very average midfielder instead. Newcastle have been bottom of the table all season and will finish 12th or something like that, let’s not pretend he is something he is not.
I remember a few of us calling it in January when we were desperately crying out for a player like him. Annoying.

I keep seeing this brought up, can someone define what this actually means? He's just a good midfielder. He's not doing anything new or revolutionary. I'm sure if you looked closely you could find hundreds of midfielders employing a similar style littered throughout Europe over the last 30 years, no?
People will still say ‘can x player step up from Ligue 1?’ as we do nothing about Kamara. Bruno just the latest taking no time at all to adapt.
Looks like a leader in there. Physical, takes responsibility with and without the ball, got plenty of ability. Great signing from Newcastle and certainly better than our best DM right now...Mainoo? Hopefully we have our eye on someone as good or better this summer. Won't hold my breath though.
