Britz

I watched both parts on channel 4 a few days ago.

Interesting program and viewpoints overall, especially as I'm a young British Muslim myself, although certain parts didn't seem right to me but in general it was okay. It took in the most extreme viewpoints of both sides I feel, focusing on the vulnerable minds and confusion of what to believe is the right thing to do, using a death or hardship to drive the views into actions. I didn't like the ending much after all that and I wasn't expecting the whole video thing at the end either. Normally, I'm sceptical on these type of programs but this one touched on many of the views of what happens in reality.

Hope I haven't spoiled much of the second part for you but I guess you really know the storyline to it anyway - just from one point of view.

Yeah, my guess was that some of its depictions of Pakistani and Islamic culture were probably a bit crass, but its heart was in the right place.

By the way, it's an answer to some of the "Jews run the media as a Zionist ruse" nutters in the CE forum... easily the most sympathetic depiction of the radical Islamist mentality ever on British telly, yet it was written/directed by Peter Kozminsky and produced by David Aukin.

pisstake i thought

I have seen programs a lot worse though about such issues. Still I kinda' know what you are getting at, as I said before, some parts weren't exactly right.

Britz actually made me think just how hard it probably is to describe and show what actually goes through the heads of such people. I suppose it would be best actually coming from someone closely involved in such thoughts but then just as outsiders may have strong views about certain parts, no doubt you will get the same from the other side meaning its hard to actually find the balance and reality.

I have seen a few programmes and you normally get somebody reading the Qur'an and they suddenly have an evil preaching type voice like they have been possessed or something.... Suppose it adds to the drama at the end of the day !
