I'll be at Belmont Park Saturday.

Any insights on the European horses?

Ok, here goes:
In the Fillies and Mare Turf race Ouija Board will be the favourite and won the race last year but i`ve heard the American Turf females are better this year. I wouldn`t be looking to back her.

Our best chance of succes is in the Turf race over a mile and a half. In this we have the two leading contenders in Azamour and Bago. Unless they both run badly one of them should win. My advice would be to go for the French colt BAGO...third in the Arc last time out this horse is a particular favourite of mine (In the Arc i had £200 on him to win and £110 to place.) Not as ground dependent as Azamour...who likes it on the fast side...at around 4/1 he is a decent bet.

In the Mile race on the turf track i would advise a small win and place bet on VALIXIR at decent odds.

No other Euro horses have any appeal for me, in ending i would say that in the night`s biggest race, the Classic i will be backing BORREGO.

Thanks for the info. Belmont BCs have been pretty good for European horses. I'll keep you posted on the weather. We're supposed to get torrential rains tonight, but hopefully the weather wiill be good by the weekend. The turf hasn't been in use, so it should be in great shape for Saturday.

BAGO does look good. A US horse to watch will be Shakespeare - hot trainer, great jockey and loves the course.

On Top form, Ouija Board is the best, but she's been injured this past year and lightly raced. I'll have to see how she works. If she is not at her best, the prices could be great in this one and I'll be trying to hit a big trifecta.

In the classic, I'm leaning towards St. Liam, but Borrego will be tough. I may hook them up in an exacta box. If Rock hard Ten is healthy, I may have to fit him in also and play a triple with Choctaw Nation and Perfect Drift. It all depends on the odds.

In the mile, the best local horse is Leroidesanimaux, but he's the likely favorite. I was looking at VALIXIR, and trainer Andre Fabre has had some past success at the BC. Valixir would pay a nice price, as would last year's winner Singletary. Starcraft (NZ) is interesting, as is Funfair (GB), who won a tough race at Belmont just a few days ago.

Lost in the Fog should win for fun in the Sprint.

Whats the story with St Liam, I know he has problems with his feet, if the rain were to keep up wouldn't it play havoc with his feet.

Stellar Jayne in the Distaff looks very good, seen it at 9/2 in a few bookies.

Rock Hard Ten has had some foot problems, but everything I've seen indicates St. Liam is healthy. He breezed 5F in 1:01.3 and did it effortlessly. His trainer says that he's in great shape. Borrego breezed 5F in 1:01.2; Flower Alley :58.4. Lord of the game did a half in :46.

The weather is supposed to be clear until Saturday. Belmont is a sand-based dirt track and drains well. The track will be fast on Saturday, if the weather holds asd expected.

There's some debate about the grass. We've had about 20 inches of rain in a week. The track superintendent (there for 31 years) says that the track will be "good to yielding" and not soft. A trainer I like - Graham Motion - says that it will be "heavy," and trainer Jimmy Toner expects it to be wet. I think it will be yielding.

Toner's Wonder Again ((Filly and Mare Turf) loves the soft going. It shouldn't bother Ouija Board, Risk Adverse, Sundrop and Angara, who've all won on yielding turf.

In the mile, it won't bother Leroidsesanimaux, a monster on any turf, or Singletary, Gorella, Funfair, Valixir, and Whipper.

In the Turf, Bago, Azamour, Shirocco, Better Talk Now, English Channel, Gun Salute, and Silverfoot will all be OK. I'm not sure about the probablr favorite Shakespeare, who worked 5F on the inner turf in 1:03.4.

Togh race, but she's good. I like Society Selection a little, and Ashado. Maybe Island Fashion can run a big race at a price.
