Manchester United are delighted to announce the appointment of Francisco Filho. Francisco arrived in August and will take control of the club's under 17s team.

Sir Alex Ferguson said: "I am extremely pleased to have Francisco join us, he is an experienced coach whose knowledge of the game is insightful and I am sure the players will look forward to working with him."

Peter Kenyon, Chief Executive said: "To have someone of Francisco's calibre here is fantastic. The youth team is an integral part of Manchester United especially if we are to continue developing the football of the future."

Francisco Filho said: "The football at Manchester United is of the best in the world and to be a part of that is a wonderful challenge, I am looking forward to working with Sir Alex and the team."

he worked under gerard houllier at the FFF if i remember correctly. . .co-wrote a book about the psychology of coaching goalkeepers.

though i'm sure that's a coincidence after barthez's showing last season.

i'd imagine your appointing him to the under-17s is an attempt to pick up some of the decent french youth players we seem to be having a monopoly on. . .you wouldn't have to pay £30M+ for a defender who can't defend then. . .

;)

You're a bit of a biassed twat really aren't you. Can't you feck off to KrapTalk or summot? ;)

Can't defend eh ?
I bet he'd be Superman, Batman, Spiderman and Luke Skywalker all rolled into one if he signed for your lot...

They couldn't afford him. There'd be no cars left in Liverpool if they bought Rio ;)

hey crembo...leave jedi Skywalker out of this
re the topic.....seems to be a good acquisition there, especially since he was inlvoved in Clarefontaine.....any chance we'll get Cantona for the Reserves now that Choccy's been promoted :D

Just happy that the management has finally decided to do it from the "root" again ... Since Harrison ... I think we have really run dry for a while now ...
Soccer is very "global" nowadays ... I believe the move for Querioz and Francisco will only benefit the team as a whole ... down the road and even "immediately" ...
Imagine - Francisco to held training session every now and then ... with the senior team !! ... it will bring a good sense of refreshness .... 29 years with the French FA - that's really a handful lot of experience !!
