BOWYER MOVE GETS GREEN LIGHT
by Leeds United Official Reporter
UNITED midfielder Lee Bowyer has been given permission to speak to Liverpool over a proposed move to Anfield after the two clubs reached agreement on a fee on Friday.
Talks have being ongoing this week, but after reaching a compromise price in the region of £9million, Bowyer will now travel to Anfield later today to complete negotiations and undergo a medical.
Leeds Chairman Peter Ridsdale said today: "We've given Lee permission to talk to Liverpool,”
"Terry Venables did have a chat with Lee, but his agent called last night to say nothing has changed.
"Liverpool have made an offer that’s acceptable to us and the rest is now in Lee’s hands. How quickly the deal goes through is now up to him and Liverpool to agree personal terms and go through the medical."
"He only had a year to go on his contract and something had to be done," Ridsdale told the YEP.
"Obviously we don’t want to lose Lee, but he’s made his decision not to sign a new contract."
Good luck Lee - sad to see you go
