Bournemouth have agreed a deal to sign South African international striker Tokelo Rantie from Swedish side Malmo.

Rantie has 12 caps for South Africa and had also been linked with Celtic and Middlesbrough but he will join Bournemouth on a four-year contract, subject to international clearance and a work permit
The fee for Rantie is undisclosed, although Sky sources understand that Bournemouth are to pay not far short of £2.5m for his services.
Rantie, who originally joined Malmo on loan from Orlando Pirates, before signing a permanent deal in April this year, will link up with his new team mates later this week.
Bournemouth earned promoted into the Championship last season and have won two of their first four games in the second tier.
However, they have also been on the wrong end of a pair of heavy defeats, losing 6-1 to Watford and 5-1 to Huddersfield.

Pretty massive deal for a club of Bournemouth's size. Crazy to think they could outspend much bigger sides.

If you're getting smashed 6-1 and 5-1, should a striker really be top priority?

They were on the brink of bankruptcy not so long ago. Got no sympathy for them if the same happens again.

Malmo must be laughing - they signed him 1 year ago for a fee believed to be about 1/3 of that amount

£2.5m isn't really that shocking when lower division sides often receive £5m+ for their best players. Palace got £15m for Zaha when they were still in the Championship and Southampton got £12m for Oxlade-Chamberlain when they were in League One. It's a lot of money for a club like Bournemouth but weren't they supposed to have a big investor?

He's also only 22, if they see potential in him they should be confident of getting double that if he settles in England.

 that old stinky Arse supporter? We only support United here in SA Brophs! ;)

Grinner, where you at bro?

That's bollocks. I had a South African mate who was a gooner. I went to my last game at Highbury with him in the Clock End and we drank little bottles of brandy at HT. He died of cancer a few years later...RIP Gary.

Bournemouth? The same Bournemouth who very nearly went bust a mere few years ago?
Shocking.

Sorry to hear about your mate Grinner :(. May he RIP.

Yeah we have a majority United fan base, with Pool, Arse and Chelsea next (in that order I think - though the new generation would be Chelsea, Arsenal, Pool - stil United majority).

Whichever one of us get to SA or the UK first, pop me a PM and I'll show you a nice South African! ;)

pfft Grinner. I'd wager I'm a nice Saffer too.

Either way, good to see Rantie in the Championship. He's a skillful and hustling/bustling kind of player, never stops running but he's pretty poor at putting the ball in the net as a striker.
