Didn't think it needed changing, the existing one is good. Expect this to go down poorly...

They’re going from a modern one to one that looks like it was the winning entry at a primary school for a Sunday league team.

Didn’t it originally look as close to the proposed one as the current (which is quite new?) one?

I think the new one looks better/more fitting.

Their current one looks like something you'd make in Paint in 2 minutes.

The new one looks like something you'd make in Paint in 5 minutes.

Might be due to the increased text size and how that better translates to digital displays. Also the current contrast ratio for colours is 7:1 comparing the foreground gold to the background black. That's high enough to pass most accessibility checks but the new badge is 19:1 so in theory much easier to distinguish.

Design thinking here.

7:1 is dead on AAA

You always run the risk of it looking like a ballbag with a multiple cherry design

Didn’t realise just how shit the Bournemouth badge is. Look at the state of that it’s terrible

The problem with the current logo is that the lines suggest action but the angle of the head and the point of contact with the ball suggest a poor touch. It looks like someone has gone up for a header and mistimed their jump and the ball has ended up behind them. At best it's a flick on at a corner.

Looks like the Wella haircare logo if they were marketing a new shampoo to sporty blokes.

Bears a loose resemblance to Atalanta's but at least that has a cool story behind it and it looks better too.

 A very good point.
