You have to be half mad to do it, not to mention gutsy and able to take a hit.

Our Shanaze Reade is currently in 5th with one round to go, just outside the qualification places.

She had what looked like a real bad fall in the first race today. Must've injured her leg [which she had already hurt] and her lower back.

Credit to her and the rest of them! :)

I was pretty skeptical when I saw in on the schedule but it is a pretty fun sport to watch. Especially with the number of wipe outs they have been having. Its Nascar without the engines, only worth watching for the crashes.

That Shineze Reade has crashed three times and she's meant to be World Champion. Silly girl.

Oh come on, she was going for gold, that's how she races, all out.

There'll be things learned from this, be better equipped come 2012.

That BMX stuff was a suprisingly good watch! Full of incident, and no little skill. I was highly dubious before seeing it, but I'm pretty happy for that to be an Olympic event now. Certainly as if not more deserving than many sports I can name

That Reade was certainly in the wars, but she wasn't alone. I think at the point she crashed, the gold was gone anyway. The woman who won gold had the better line coming out of that final corner. But still unfortunate to crash and miss out on the medals completely. But nothing seemed gaurenteed in that event, which was all part of the spectacle. It was carnage!

And if I may say so, BMX riders are suprisingly tasty! One of the New Zealand riders particularly caught my eye :)

To say that tshe was in the wars is pretty apt, bruising, cuts, likely broken hand e.t.c.

The organisers of London 2012 should try and use her as oe fo the faces of the Games, i think she can really attact a new audience, be really good.

I too wasn't sure about it beforehand but i'm feeling pretty won over at the minute. :)

Well what were you expecting Brad? lol

Her name is Sarah Walker.

Too right. All credit to her putting it all on the line to win Gold. Non of this settling for silver.

She went there for gold, which is why she risked crashing out and went all for it.

She will be back in 2012 - that’s defiantly an event im going try getting tickets for.

Stupid biatch.

What a pair of fools

Have you actually watched the event? the girl put everything into it and was so unlucky not to come home with a medal.

That event must take an absolutely enormous amount of guts, grit and determination and she showed all of this to be in the position she was.

Hats of to the girl, wasn't happy to settle for second best and to coin a phrase recently used by Usain Bolt she went out to leave everything on the track in order to take gold.

Very, very unlucky.

Very tasty too! ;)

Not neccessarily, she is the current team sprint champion along with Victoria Pendleton, I can only assume that event wasn't held at the Olympics? But surely if your good enough on the track, you give up BMX by the time your 23 to avoid injury if nothing else

From watching the reply of that, Victoria Pendleton left Shanze during the final lap so basically won it on her own.

I too was skeptical but it was amazing to watch. it's all over in less than a minute it seems and what with the crashes and all that....
crazy stuff.

That's the point of team sprint mate, one does the early work with the other in slipstream, then the other takes it home. As you'll have seen from her fantastic starts in the BMX where she always clears the field, she's the early worker

We had this one fella in it. Reached the QFs I think.

Mad sport.

Was gutted for that girl when I saw this earlier.

She could have easily settled for a medal, but went all out to take the inside before the collision.

Was more entertaining than I thought it would be.

Fair play, i thought she was doing the team pursuit. This track cycling business is a bit new to me.
