95.2% of the HD market apparently and with the PS3 flying out of the door I can only see them continuing to dominate.

This pleases me.
They'll both be dead soon, everything will be streamed online
Eventually you are probably right. In the mean time I'd hate to pick the wrong horse.
That's where Blu-Ray will prosper whereas Sony's Betamax didn't. For the first time really, the superior picture is what people are going for when they pick a format. In my opinion, BluRay looks better, so they'll win the war.Because it's the technically superior product, simple as that. The sooner one of them is dead the better.
I think we're a ways off from having that being a viable option. Image quality is bad enough trying to stream a 32mb file, let along a 2gb HD movie file. I personally would prefer to have a hard copy of a movie, not just a file on my computer. They'll both be dead soon, everything will be streamed online
A lot of people also like to have a hard copy.
It will be a long time before streaming HD video becomes the norm. The majority of people still can't stream broadcast quality SD video on demand.
Some shows are broadcast in 1080i. DVD will look better than cable because it's uncompressed. Cable needs to compress slightly due to bandwidth issues.dunno about the frozen north but down my way it's my understanding that the cable and satellite TV companies are broadcasting HD at 780P which is not as good as 1080P. I think that the blu rays are showing at 1080P.*
*I could be wrong.
Interesting, don't think they are doing so well in the US

HD will win out.
One of the big studios (can't remmeber which) a month or so ago dumped Blu Ray for HD DVD.
My mate works for Toshiba (who sell HD DVD) and he has seen both technologies side by side exrensively, and apparently the HD DVD is far superior.
Samsung are apparently working on a hybrid player anyway which will play both formats.

Xbox is offering this in the UK as of next tuesday, (HD and Normal) will be interesting to see how well this works, sony already do this in Japan for the PS3, or at least it was announced it was on its way
Will definitely give it a go
Movie downloads are one thing, real-time on demand streaming is another.
