If I had my way it'd be:

Peter Taylor in as assistant manager/coach.

Players in:

Ayala.......£15m
Bridge......£10m
Emerton.....£10m
Cissé.......£22m
In sum......£57m

Players out:
Yorke........£5m
Veron.......£28m
Phizza Nev...£7m
Fortune......£3m
Blanc, May, Johnsen, Irwin, Wallwork, RVDG on freebies.
In sum......£43m

Comments:

I'm not sure I've mentioned this before but I think bringing in a new coach is crucial!!! ;)

I think we have too many playmaking players -> Veron, fantastically skilled though he is, has not really delivered and must make way to finance new players.

We have too few players with dribbling skills and explosive pace. Cissé and Emerton would change that. Emerton would also give us a different, more attack-minded option on right back (I reckon he'd be good along with our slightly-less-than-jetheeled Becks).

We need one more left-footed player. Bringing in the impressive Wayne Bridge would provide (1) much needed competition for Tweety (who's very good - and slightly inconsistent!) (2) give us the option of using Tweety as equally needed cover for Giggsy (and his fragile hammies).

Three strikers is not enough - especially when one of them at times makes you think of words like "cow's arse" and "banjo"...

I should think that a net outlay of £15m would be acceptable to the plc board - and wages shouldn't be a major problem considering the large number of players leaving.

To be honest, I wouldn't mind one more transaction - Barthez out, Sorensen in - but if I'd included that one, people would go ape-crazy with their  , their , and their  . For some reason it's against the law to suggest that United buy a player with the same nationality as yourself. ;)

I think that Cisse will defenatly not be coming to Old Trafford after saying that he wants to stay in France, but a possible deal could happen next year. Though I do agree Peter Taylor would do an excellent job at the club if he was to sign, especially with the youngsters.

My perfect summer:

In
Ayala £15m
Thuram £15m
Emerton £10m
Rivaldo (exchange for Veron)
Christe £6m

Out
Yorke £7m
Fortune £3-5m
Veron (exchange for Rivaldo)

Rivaldo coming in as a striker and Malcom Christe as an up and coming one, and he is already established himself as a top Premiership striker.
Emerton, Ayala and Thuram coming as a new look defensive combination. Also next I believe that O'Shea will have a massive impact on the Premiership and will a huge impact in future years with Brown as his partner.

I think the board will be quite generous give Sir Alex somewhere in the region of £30-£40 million as they showed last year they not going stop Ferguie persuing the players that he wants and remember that if Thuram came to United last year he would of signed for somewhere in the region for about £15-£20 million taking last years spending to about £60 million. But I do it will be a very exciting summer and a very changed team next year. ;)

And also Landreau as back up for Barthez who will definatly be staying at United.

I wouldn't rule out a Cissé change of heart to the tune of a bumber contract! ;)

Rivaldo in exchange for Veron doesn't sound like good business to me. He's older, he hasn't had the best of seasons, and IMO he'd be even more of a gamble than Veron was. You sure he'd be up for a rainy Monday evening at the Riverside?

Anyway, I suspect that the plc will be unwilling to spend more than £20m (net) on new players - at least some of the comments made by Kenyon suggest as much. Thuram would be nice but Ayala would probably make better financial sense and furthermore I think that Brown and O'Shea should be given a chance to prove themselves - that would be ruled out with two expensive CBs coming in.

Christie for £6m? I doubt it...

If I had my way it'd be:
Brian McClair in as assistant manager/coach.

Players in:

Thuram.......£15m
Duff.........£10m
Zanetti......£10m
Weir..........£2m
In sum......£37m

Players out:
Yorke........£5m
Fortune......£3m
Chadwick.....£3m
Blanc, May, Johnsen, Irwin, Wallwork, RVDG on freebies.
In sum......£11m

Zanetti would be absolutely bloody marvellous but I fear that he'd cost at least £15m - probably more - on top of huge wages. I'm impressed with Emerton...

Selling Chadwick would be ok with me.

Multiply that by 3 and there might be a SLIGHT chance we'd get him..

I reckon Fergie will go for Duff & Finnan as he is a big fan of the Irish mentality.
Them two alone with perhaps a CB aswell and we coast it next season.

That doesn't seem good business. You'd be buying this unknown Chinese lad for a fortune, and then selling him at a loss.

;)

I don´t disagree. Would be nice to have ´em both at OT.

Can Finnan play on the left? If not, I don't see why we would need him, as he's not any better than Gary Neville.

£10m was probably a wee bit low, but he won't be costing £30m. £15m - £20 IMO

He's the captain of Inter and probably their best player together with Vieri, he can play in defence or in midfield, he's a star player for Argentina and Inter rejected a 25 million quid bid from Real Madrid for him last summer. I don't see any reason for them to let him go for less than an extraordinary sum.

Don´t think so but I think Gary´s a very good CB.

Agreed.

If I had my way:
In
Joe Cole
Di Canio
Lizarazu
Out
Part time fans
Giggs
Yorke
Stewart - why does Fergie insist on playing him

He's also approaching 30, a full back by trade and has only got 2 seasons left on his contract - all factors contributing to a lower price

I'm right, you're wrong ;)

IN:
Tudor
Hugo Viana (let him stay at Sporting for 2-3 years though)
Cisse

Out:
Yorke
May
Chadwick
Stewart
Fortune
Wallwork
(obviously Irwin, Johnsen RVDG)

I think he would be a better full back than GN but either way he would provide stiffer competition for the place and Gary has after all two places to fight for.

How do you rate Emerton, Roy?

All about priorities - we could provider every position with stiffer competition, but at the moment other areas should be prioritised. We already have Phil and Wes who can step in for Gary - and Thuram if we manage to get him. Our money is better spent in other areas unless we can get a right back that actually is better than Gary and hence improves the team.

My Perfect summer:
nb: Fergie's transfer Kitty is £30m + confirmed!
Poom£2m
Nesta £22m
Bridge £10m
Finnan £5m
Doni £10m
Duff£11m
Rivaldo£28m

Out:
Rachubka£8m
Culkin £4m
Yorke £7m
Fortune£7m
Phil Neville£6m
Danny Webber £8m
Wool Work, RVDG, Johsen and Irwin!
Comments:

Poom is expereinced bck up for Barthez!

We need back up for Beckham who can score and cross as well. Doni is the one guy capable and is genuinely two footed. Would replace our loss of Kanchelkis.

Veron will stay. One bad season, like Scholes has had dosn't make a bad player.

The best defender on the planet. The only won who plays with the speed and skill that Blanc has never had with Blanc's inteligence. Also, he is very good at man marking. Our defence would be unbeatable in the air and on the groung and would be the best attacking unit around!

Bridge would make up for Silvestre's defensive inadequacies agannst certain opposition.
Finnan is the only logical back up for Gazza.

Duff would be perfect cover for Giggs and would enable Fergie to rest Giggs more.

Rivaldo would be th one to finally fill the shoes of Cantona whom we have never replaced and tack United to the next level!

;)

Finnan will cost slightly more than £5m, add about 3m to that number. Rivaldo is not needed at OT. PDC will do the trick for now, until United can target a youngster to groom. PDC will cost roughly £25m less than Rivaldo.

As for your transfers out, it is very laughable to think Rachubka would fetch anything higher than £1m. He has no first team experience and is not a highly tounted young keeper. Fortune would come for about 1/3 of your listed price. Try about £2.5m max offer. Webber will not fetch £8m, try £1-2m. Is Culkin still at United? If so, he would fetch £500k, maybe. Yorke could fetch £7m, but I think £5m is more realistic. Phil might be the only reasonable price you have.

I think he generated those fees by playing Premier League Manager in cheat mode!

Jip Jaap You think about that game too much.
Seriosly young keepers of this day go at very high prices. And do not forget Rachubka has under21 experience with the USA. Has benn at a couple of Junior World Cups. Thta is some experience don'tyou think?
