Blanc may play one more year

Former French World Cup winner Laurent Blanc is reconsidering his decision to retire at the end of the season and could play on for another year with Manchester United.
'I have been given some time to think things over, so that's what I will do,' the 36-year-old defender was quoted as saying in the Daily Express.

'I am considering playing on for another year. That is the very least I can do for (United manager) Alex (Ferguson),' said Blanc, whose one-year contract is due to expire at the end of the season.

'He (Ferguson) brought me to United and he is asking me to carry on playing. I will give him my answer once the season has finished.'

Blanc won 97 caps for France in an international career that ended in 2000 after he had helped his country become both world and European champions.

The much-travelled Blanc, who has also played for Barcelona, Marseille, Auxerre, St Etienne, Nimes, Napoli and Montpellier, joined United on a free transfer from Inter Milan last August.
