Blanc must go . . .

So far away I get up 4am to just watch Utd on TV
. . . and maintain a position on the bench. He must be used sparingly and only as the need arises. His experience in Europe is not being overlooked but Ferdinand, Brown & Sylvestre are clearly our future and should be getting the bulk of the playing time IMO!

When it's time to defend or guard a lead then Larry's experience is undeniable. If there's panic accross the back then bring him in to "steady" the troops.

I think he should perhaps start the odd game but rarely play more than 60 minutes. In some games, he can help establish stability then step aside to allow what I believe is potentially the strongest back four in the country (if not the world)to take over.

Rotating Rio, Wes & Mikkey in the middle and playing John at LB while Gazza holds down the RB spot is the best back line we've seen in years!

Even a back four that lines up with O'Shea at RB & Mikkey at Left is awsome (assuming they flank Rio & Wes) By the same token, Wes is great cover for Gary . . . Mikkey can slide over to LB in a heart beat. O'Shea can play just about anywhere . . . including midfield in a pinch!

We still have Phil for occasional use in a full back spot or as a man-to-man marker & ball winner in midfield. Phizza's becoming a modern-day "Nobby" Stiles with teeth. :D but like Blanc should be used with purpose & only on special occasions.

Whenever those "things" happen (like injury or suspension) Blanc can step up & hold down the fort . . .

With that back four let Giggs, Beckham, Scholes, Veron, Keane, Butt & even Forlan fight over the midfield spots . . . Ole & Ruud are our strike force . . . the only place we don't have cover. Yes Giggs, Scholes & Forlan can play up front but lets face it . . . they are not out-&-out strikers. This will be solved in January!?

Never fear . . . we can still win everything this year including the EPL. The future looks bright despite the recent setbacks.

I know what you're saying but I believe he can and does, have a calming influence especially in the European ties. If we get up a couple of goals, he's less likely to go "wandering" or suffer the anxiety the younger players might.

I think SAF has plans only to use him a bit from now onwards...
His main job is prob. to get the likes of Cisse, Mexes and Escude to the club through his ambassadorship! ;)

Yep, get rid of Blanc, he is definitely one of Fergie's worst buys, he is so slow and has lost pace of the game, no wonder Middlesbrough were given so much space in our box to score, he's a disgrace!

He is slow and has lost pace - fair enough.

He's a disgrace - over the top as usual.

Shock. Larry @ 36/37 is too old to consistently play at a high level. He should stay with the club until the end of the season and play a mentoring role for the younger defenders. He should not be thrown into matches unless our younger defenders get injured etc.

You have to respect that very great defender. OK, he 37, but I don't think he's the only responsible fr our defeat. We have ALSO won games with him. He hasn't played well against Middelsbrough, but don't forget he was recovering from an injury.
I don't worry for him, he'll be a great manager.

Worst buys? He was free.

Lost pace? He is the same speed as when he arrived as far as I can tell.

Get a grip and stop being such a drama queen.

<he was just back from a lay off, hes been great for us since he came to us. Calling him a bad buy is ridiculos.

Blanc has been mostly good than bad. But at the age of 37, he's ready to slowly retire and passing the job on to the likes of Ferdinand, Brown, Silvestre and O'Shea. Speaking of O'Shea, I thought he played really well today. Well, as usual. :)

yep.

apparently mexes is the next blanc, if he is then we should have him at OT.

as for Blanc, he's pure class.

i doubt he'll stay....but i'd love him to stay on and coach our young defenders, Rio, inparticular, can learn alot of him.

I think he plans to come back to the South of France. One day he'll be France national coach, I'm sure of that.

feck me "Suckshit" you do get carried away don't you!

I hope you're being sarcastic because without Blanc we'd have had a lot more poor results than good over the last season and a half. Do you think for one minute O'Shea, Brown & Silvestre haven't learned a ton from playing and training alongside Mr. White?

Blanc was certainly no "culprit" against Boro . . . most of the team played poorly. He did "us" a favour by signing for one more year. He'll go gracefully and deserves your respect!

Agree completely. I think his playing days are numbered but that's to be expected at his age. Have you ever seen anyone so cool under pressure though. Class. I do think he's now too slow but thank you Larry, I think you've added a new dimension to the other lads' play.

My heart sank when I saw him on the teamsheet.Just look at the results and clean sheets when he is not playing! He cannot run anymore and frequently stands 10 yards away from his marker.Far from being a steadying influence I think he unsettles the defence around him. However, the more he is criticised the more SAF will select him.The fact is that the defence has been brutal for the last couple of years and now things have come good- Wes Brown/J.O'Shea/Silvestre and hopefully Ferdinand. For Gods sake keep Blanc out of the back four.

It's not fair to treat Blanc as the scapegoat, we all admit that he is little bit aged but I'm sure he's still useful in the team with his experience in CL games. Play him as subsitute if the full 90minutes is too heavy for him.
