Blanc for French role?

Aime Jacquet, who still has quite a say as the technical director with the French Football Assoaiation, has said that he would welcome a role for Laurent Blanc in the new French set up.
As it's likely they'll be looking for a new manager after their World Cup disaster it seems like they might try to tempt Blanc into a coaching role alongside Didier Deschamps.
Naturally, that would probably mean him leaving United. Would this be a good move from United's point of view?
I say yes, let him go if he's offered a position. That would free up another defensive position for us to go out there, bring in two younger men who can start to build up a partnership like Bruce/Pallister and Stam/Johnsen.
Blanc is hardly the long term solution to last season's defensive woes, is he?

maybe not but he may well reduce our chances of getting mexes?
anyway i'd love to see him coach at Utd - the man is genius and if he can rub that off on brown/o shea etc. then we're sorted

Thats alright for the position, but what about the money? Players cost money you know, and with us already probably looking at one center half, one left back and one attacking player, probably a striker, I doubt there's money for another defender.

If it's a question of money - they could have got a little for someone like Johnsen, couldn't they? Offloading Blanc's wage bill alone will free up £2million.
I just think his best days are past him - and if United pay ouit £10-£15 million for a quality defender, that fee will pay itself back if the team is more successful, won't it?
Speculate to accumulate and all that...surely if United is being run as a business they should know that... you get what you pay for... are United the richest club in the world or not?

Yeah United run like a business, but you don't see us signing Zidane's for 65m dollars with the business logic that transfer will pay for itself with shirt sales, etc... So no, I don't expect to see the PLC releasing another 15m because that money would make us a better team and bring more money into the club. Might as well make it 40m, no?

Like I said, the problem isn't the wage bill, ofcource Blanc going would clear that one up, but the fee is a different case. I'm not sure your Johnsen mention, ofcource it would be great to sign someone as good as cheap as he was, but those don't fall off trees.

Otherwise, Fergie would spend all his spare time in the woods. :p
