BLACKPOOL could be set to make a move for Manchester United prospect Danny Drinkwater.

Pool assistant boss Steve Thompson ran the rule over the midfielder on Tuesday night, when the 21-year-old capped an impressive display with a goal for a Manchester United XI in their 2-0 win at Fleetwood Town.

He is yet to make a senior appearance for the Premier League champions but has played over 50 times in loan spells with Huddersfield, Cardiff and Watford.

Drinkwater’s fellow United midfielder Oliver Norwood could also be interesting Pool.

The 20-year-old is believed to be another who caught the eye against Fleetwood, Norwood has won three Northern Ireland caps without having made a senior appearance for his club.
Would be a good move for both players i'd have thought. Both very unlikely to make it here imo.

I'm not sure either would be first choice if they went there, though they'd have more opportunities than they will here, where I can't see either making it with us.

Considering that they have lost both Adam and Vaughan - the places certainly are there for the taking

I was wondering where James, Norwood and Drinkwater spend this season..

Ideally I'd like all 3 to make it here, but that looks very unlikely.. especially with the midfielders in the U18s ready to make the step up to the reserves.

All 3 are talented. Hope they do well

I cant see anyone of them making it - they are all good players, but not good enough to play regularly for us. Pogba, Tunnicliffe and Morrison all have better chances
