Television Black Mirror | Season 6 out June 15th

Would be cool if they released stats to show what percentage of people picked the path.

I imagine "F*ck yeah" is around 99%.

It was enjoyable but I found the 'here's what you could have won' rewinds a bit tedious after a while. Initially I was eager to give it multiple viewings to try and get every path possible but by the end I was happy to leave it at one viewing and just read the tree and imagine what I didn't see. I think I have seen everything but the leap out of the window strand.

Every time I watch an episode of black mirror I feel like I'm being unceremoniously molested by Charlie Brooker while he explains in a monotone how great he is at it.

"Hurr hurr hurr the main protagonist is complaining about having choices made for him and not having free will whilst we force you to make certain choices if you want the story to progress. Hurr hurr hurr it's so fecking clever and ironic."

feck off Brooker.

I liked Spider-Verse... and the new Bros documentary.

Matt Goss had me in stitches about 5 times

*looks forlornly at the camera* "You see yourself in the bath in a magazine - it's embarrassing... Luckily, there were bubbles."

Thought it was very meh. If any of the story arcs were just a simple black mirror episode then it would probably rank very close to the bottom. The novelty of selection wore off very quickly for me as well.

I got annoyed that one of my selections brought me back to the start of the show

It was fun to play along with my family but it was weaker than most if not all of the main episodes.

Choice based games have been there and done that more effectively.

Started off really well.

I was expecting a hell of a lot more when the guy with glasses jumped off the balcony, but the story didn't go anywhere interesting after that

I really liked it overall.

If there was one problem though I think the unreliable narrator/narrative arc they went for sometimes took away some of the emphasis on the choices you made when they were revealed to be dreams. Obviously those choices contributed to the characters overall psych but I kind of preferred when you were getting obvious, real-life choices that perhaps seemed quite dry but felt like they were having more of an impact. Similarly was sometimes annoying when you made a choice and got told it was the wrong one - would've rather each choice actually changed the story in that regard.

Fairly well-made though, had a sort of Lynchian vibe to it. Especially the weird acid sequence for anyone who got that.

Cool idea overall though, would like to see it perhaps tried more often. A show like BM's perfect for it due to the anthology approach. I know it's obviously been done in video games etc before, but video games are meant to actively as opposed to passively engage viewers anyway, so felt a bit different to see a TV show trying it out.

What ending did everyone get first time? Mines had him killing his dad but getting arrested right away, with the game then getting 2 and a half stars as a result.

I didn’t even realise you could choose yourself at first, I thought it was just the episode itself deciding. And then it goes back and repeats itself etc. I’m a bit slow.

Watched it now. I like the premise. The trip part is great and I expected more after that. Takes a good while to get anywhere in typical Black Mirror fashion, seems like it's getting going then sort of peters out. Just wanted it to be over instead of frustratingly restarting near the end of it to be honest.

The demon shit me up though.

Yeah that was a little underwhelming overall. Really great start but the last third descended into several disappointing conclusions that never really lived up to the promise it showed.

Still, as an experience, it was pretty cool.

Charlie Brooker watched some porn and decided to make this, didn’t he?

I don’t know why, but as a gamer I loved it. It triggered my completionism something hard. I’ve watched it 3 times now and I’ve arrived at every possible scenario from every possible logical path. Quite fun!

How different is it if you choose to work from their office?

It’s a dead end. The game gets released immediately but it’s only 2/5 stars as it’s been rushed to meet the deadlines

Novel experience.
Was surprised they dove right in with the cereal choice at the beginning. Not sure how relevant that was, relative to the other choices down the road. Suppose they were getting you used to selecting choices.
Overall really enjoyed it and yer man that played Colin Ritman was quite good.

Supposedly, if you choose Sugar Puffs the dad makes a reference to the neighbours dog in the garden.
something like, ‘that dog will be the death of us’. And when you bury your dad in the garden I believe the dog is the one who digs him up.

I cant decide whether to go back to this to watch more paths I didnt try last time. I felt like I did a pretty decent amount when I first watched it and if I had been watching it alone I would have done more there and then, but my missus wasnt getting as much out of it as I was so we stopped when Netflix decided it was over. But now, in the cold light of day, it feels like there are better things to do than go back and, for example, see what happens if

I jump off the balcony

or pick up the family photo twice.

3 eps sounds good. OP series style. Presumably reaslises he’d been spreading himself a little thin.

Between this and Dark returning, June is shaping up to be a great month already

Miley Cyrus & Anthony Mackie are interesting choices

The Miley Cyrus episode looks interesting. Can't wait for June, not just the shows, but some great movies releasing too.

Will be interesting to see and cant wait.

Strangely when I watched this on netflix, it for some reason, did the order incorrectly for me (so I started with s4 and it played backwards on autoplay). So I watched s1 last so the latter seasons were enjoyable for me.
