Eventhough it's one of the worst kept secret in the video games industry, BioWare have officially announced that they're doing a Knights of the Old Republic massive-multiplayer online game. And they've also revealed its concept with a few teaser screens.

The game itself is officially named "Star Wars: The Old Republic" and takes places 300 years after the events that occurred in the two KOTOR games, which is some 3500 years before the events in the Star Wars films.

The game's concept seems to focus on individual story telling and again splits players into those that accompany themselves with the supposedly good-hearted Republic, or the Sith Empire which is more associated with the evils in the Star Wars universe. Like the KOTOR games, it seems to emphasise on moral decisions forced upon the player, of which it's consequences are burdened on the character and has an effect on the relationships the player forms.

GameSpot have given the most detailed input on what's been learnt of the project so far, they've written a long first insight, so look it up on their site:

I've been quite weary over all MMOs that have been released since WoW, all of them seem to bomb and collapse since they pose no competition to Blizzard's MMO behemoth. But the fact that this is BioWare, who are undeniably one of the best in the business, makes this an interesting project. Looking forward to it!

Oh and it looks like KOTOR 3 is out of the question im afraid :(

Cool, I enjoyed 1 & 2 (although 2 was a bit of a dissapointment), hopefully this retains the same style and gameplay. I've never played an MMO beyond a few days on trial versions, might get this.
