Sunderland are understood to be mounting a late bid to steal Manchester United's Ronnie Wallwork from under the noses of West Brom.
Red Devils defender Wallwork is available on a free transfer and is wanted by the newly-promoted Baggies, but despite having held talks at The Hawthorns, Wallwork's agent insists another club - believed to be Sunderland - have made a late approach for his client.
"Albion have put down a solid offer but we've had a call from another Premiership club," said agent Neil Sillett.
Wallwork, 24, comes highly recommended by Old Trafford chief Sir Alex Ferguson and his versatility would appeal to Peter Reid.
I reckon very few of our other players would get so much interest Half the world is after Wallwork
