Team GSTQ

Setup Notes -

1. Recreation of the Brazilian magic square with worthy replacements in Rivellino and Zito
2. A front 2 that can roam all across the front line, designed specifically for this setup and especially Zico.
3. A defensively sound backline. Bezsonov the more attacking fullback, Abidal the more defensive.
4. Rivellino and Riva's wide game makes up for lack of width from Abidal

Team H-man

Tactics:

  • This team is fundamentally a counter attacking team with focus on attacking with speed and quality on the ball.
  • All players are generally good on the ball and able to start attacks if needed, while being balanced and defensively solid.
  • Lewandowski acts as a focal point in attack and also looks to play in Sivori, Simonsen, and Futre whenever possible.
  • The fullbacks bomb forward and provide support to the wingers who will focus on attacking with the ball and running at the opposition backline.
  • Futre and Simonsen may switch flanks to add variety to the attack when the need arises.
  • Sivori looks to link play, but also make clever runs around Lewandowski.

Can't see GSTQ team again, must be something about the format it's submitted in as same happened last week

These teams are hard to split up. Personally, I really like GSTQ's side as they have some of my favourites in Zico, Law, Riva, and Abidal, but H-Man's team is very well-built.

Running a fever so won't be able to participate in the debate today.

Can some kind soul who likes the midfield and forward line make a case for it? Cheers.

Both GSTQ's front six and Himann's back six are spectacular. The Sivori late pick (indicating how underrated he is) has really completed Himann's attack on a high level; he should be a perfect match with Lewandowski. Initially tended towards GSTQ for his midfield & attack, but the more I look at the other team's overall composition, the less sure I am.

Love the midfield and forward line. I think Law and Riva will work hard, make off-the-ball runs, and generally be ideally placed with Zico playing in behind them and pulling the strings. The midfield too gets the best out of Zico, who is in his favored magic square formation. I like Socrates more than Rivellino when paired with Zico, but I don't see a problem with these two meshing together because Rivellino is both brilliant and flexible in my view. Falcao too is right at home here and Zito sits at the base of a very nicely made square. Generally speaking, this is a very good midfield and attack and it's brilliantly put together. A few key upgrades in defense will make this team a strong contender to win the whole thing.
